Did the last boss make anyone else lose interest in the game?
I love this game but honestly I am so tired of this last boss (the main ending) that I don't ever really want to play this again. I have beaten every other mini boss in the game so I figured I might have a chance here but I just can't beat him no matter how many times I try. I even played through the game twice, both times giving up on the last boss. I know I'm a pleb but it feels super disheartening that I can't finish this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

Well there is hard and people enjoy hard games and then there is frustratingly stupid hard where it turns people off on said game to the point where it's no longer fun even after you beat it I think the last boss borderline or cross that line on stupidly frustrating hard a small Fringe minority actually enjoys

I've never completed a FS game, I always drop it at the end boss. Reason being there is no more incentive (new area to explore) to give me encouragement. It is, even as you implied, more fun to just start a new game and play it again. I'm at Emma+Ishin now and when I saw defeating Emma was basically just the first phase of a fight, not true progress, I noped right out of there are went back to exploring for the other midbosses I didn't kill yet.

It is a hard boss, but you can definitely beat him dude.
Take breaks and don't rush, it'll be worth it in the end

I did beat him and I did not find it rewarding I was just more happy that it was over didn't feel a sense of accomplishment just happy that it was over because it was so hard that I didn't find it fun just pure frustration and rage. Kind of like when somebody's torturing you and then all of a sudden just let you go .. the torture is over.
you don't feel sense of accomplishment you were just glad it's over well that kind of sums sums up my opinion on the last boss pure torture

I'm finding it pretty fun in new game plus to use the OP combat arts and upgraded prosthetics to destroy trash mobs. Maybe it will get dull pretty quick, but I think it's much more enjoyable than starting fresh with no skills again.
Might start a new game for a challenge run or something
Yeah I got the same feeling from the last boss. Four health bars is just a bit much, even if one (arguably two) of them become easy after a couple of tries. Putting it down and picking it up again the next day helped immensely, although imo that does not excuse the poor encounter design.

I also died a few times in a row on phase 4 due to fiddly things like camera randomly losing lock for no apparent reason. That was really just the last nail in the coffin as to why I think it's a bad design. You shouldn't design drawn out multi-stage fights with strict failure conditions if your mechanics and systems aren't literally perfect.

I think that its design was really freacking bad, i mean if we count that he has 4 phases we have phase 1 and 2 that are great, than from phase 3 he just gets that no sense poise that force you into an hit and run fight where you cant do anything but exploit his jump to even have the slightest opening on him. The game was great but it has way too many points where it surpass being hard and it just end up being frustrating.

That's how I felt with Demon of Hatred boss. I was having such a hard time with it that once I was done, I was just glad it was over. But it didn't feel epic, it was like a frustrating shiete storm!

Same here. I had no problem with the difficult in the whole game, but Isshin and Demon of Hatred they just threw everything out the window.

Such a fantastic game, ruined by the final boss. I think From Software is getting stuck with the "fame" of making hard games, and they have to make harder everytime.

If at least the Genichiro phase were remove after beat him for the first time, I think it would be a great deal already.

Destroyed it in 3 tries. Posture damage absolutely melts first two phases, and in last two you can just L1 dance till it does thrust/charge swipe and counter those accordingly. The only hard thing about it is that he is slow so you think you can put some damage before he finishes his combo, but in reality only openings are post mikiri/goomba stomp

the last boss is not that hard ,the first two phase is easy ,you just need to remember the 3rd phase attack pattern .the 4th phase will be easier if you have mastered the 3rd phase, just do lightning counter .

If you had to to semi-cheese him like that im not sure you can say he isnt hard, tho. Running around for minutes is the easy and cheap way to beat him. No shame in doing that if you cant beat him the normal way.
He's a real pain. It is nice to see a From game with an end boss who isn't just a cakewalk, but this is like the opposite. He's so hard. It took me like two dozen tries at least I'm sure, but when I finally did beat him I didn't just beat him I WHOPPED HIS ASS, I only used 4 gourd charges the whole fight, and it felt ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome. He really isn't super hard, but he punishes you really hard for any mistakes so you really have to commit to learning his attacks. Still not as bad as the guardian ape though.

Agreed, I was so frustrated after facing the demon 2 days ago, that I uninstalled. Seriously, this is the first game that made me ragequit. I know that he is purely optional, but I like to complete optional tasks and beat side bosses.
Yesterday I cooled off a little and downloaded the game again to face Isshin, and it's getting better and better: I can beat Genichiro and the 1st phase of Isshin wihout receiving damage, but then the hell breaks loose. I know that I will finally manage to complete the game, but I won't be touching the demon or NG+. FS has lost it, pushing the difficulty through the roof.

It took me 2 hours straight to beat True Monk the first time through (admittedly had the bell active for most of the first playthrough and was a noob), 2.5 hours to beat the Demon of Hatred, and another 1.5 hours or so each on Genichiro and on the Guardian Ape.

This guy? Took me about 2 hours in total, and I beat him in a 40 minute or so stretch after taking a break and coming back with talismans and while refreshed. Beat him in about 30 minutes and 6-7 attempts on NG+ just recently, so it was significantly easier (but still a fun challenge for sure).

If you are the kind of person who gets enraged at video games when you die repeatedly, this game was never your cup of tea to begin with. The bosses in this game can all be beaten with practice, skill, and a bit of patience, but if your first reaction to death is "I'm not having fun" rather than "wow, that fight is a lot of fun, I need to do better next time," then things will remain tough.

It's a matter of perspective, in other words. I suggest if you are struggling against any boss in this game that you simply take a break and come back to them later. Perhaps fight some other enemies or such first, or farm up a bit for a particular skill or items or such that might help you in the fight, then fight them once you are prepared to fight them until they finally die.
