Dragon Rot and dying
The dragon rot scheme makes me afraid to die... anyone else? I sort of wish it wasn't in the game, I am afraid to even try some mini bosses after a death or go kill 'headless' because I don't want to get the rot.

is this really a non issue and I am making it a larger deal than it is?

It's really not a problem at all. It prevents progress in NPC questlines, but those are entirely optional side quests that aren't important to any of the endings of the game. Not all NPC's can catch dragon rot either and there's plenty of droplets to heal everyone so you can progress in some of the questlines.

Also, just for comparison: In previous Soulsborne games, it was basically impossible to do all the NPC questlines in a single playthrough without a guide on your first playthrough simply because of how easy it was to miss an NPC location or do something that causes the "bad ending" for that NPC so Dragon Rot is harmless in comparison.

Really a non issue, only thing curing it does is return you the 30% Unseen Aid chance.
And that chance is so meaningless, it's whatever.

"side quests" in this game are absolutely pointless but just wait until you get 5/6 ncps infected and cure them. the droplets are not that hard to come by.

True. At least in other FromSoftware games, the quest rewards were actually worth it. Like getting certain weapons or fashion, maybe a few rings too. The NPC questlines here are nothing more than a lil distraction from the main game and offer some insight on their lore but that's about it.

Exception being Anayama. If you do his questline, you'll get an item that discounts all items in all stores. Then again, after having played through the game 4 times, I have so much money and nothing to spend it on.

Dragonrot is literally a psych-out. It's completely insignificant unless you want to continue a side-quest which requires you to interact with an NPC to get to the next part of it. Game gives you probably 20+ droplets on first play, maybe even 30. Just don't use one ever until you realize at a particular moment that you NEED to, and hopefully at that point everyone will have Dragonrot so it doesn't feel wasted.

only things I bought were the tools and gourds. occasionally emblems when I needed a tool in a boss fight (like the umbrella with the hatred demon). money's not *too* much of an issue.
There's going to be a way to cure it, and it's going to be easy to do it as many times as you want.

It doesn't matter. Like at all.

Actually it matters so little I wish it actually was more of a burden.

In the beginning when nobody knew yet I thought as well I must not die. Everybody thought NPC's are going to die and it's going to affect the endings and what not... In hindsight it's kinda sad nothing of this sort is going on.

Only some NPC's even can get dragon rot and all it does is preventing to continue the quest line of that character until you've healed it from the disease. You'll find so many items to heal dragon rot - if you are just slightly conservative with their usage you'll never run out and always be able to continue the quest lines.

After several NG+ cycles I'm immediately healing whoever gets it in the rare case of me dying often enough for that to actually happen. Sitting at around 80 of those items to heal dragon rot currently.

During your second and third playthrough, you'll be like "OOOOOOOOH RIGHT, I forgot about Dragonrot."

It literally does NOTHING to the game.... figuratively speaking.

First I thought I should save every NPC. After they gave me nothing (10% Vendor discount is the only good reward), I just used "Dragon's Blood Droplets" to revive myself in boss fights a second time in one phase.

Also only "true death" is what brings in dragon rot. So if you die and resurrect that's fine, but if you accept death and respawn at an idol that's what spreads rot. Because lore wise, Sekiro is low on his Lords energy/blood and therefore needs to draw it from other sources i.e the sculptor and other vendors.
Literally a non-issue. Unless you die like, all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time. If you're a half-way decent player, you might have to cure it once or thrice, but you'll come across enough restorative items that you shouldn't have any problems.
