It's relatively complicated, but doable if you know what you have to do.

First, you need to wait till you defeat "Great Shinboi Owl" on top of Asina Castle, don't worry, you can't miss this fight.

After this, you need to have the incense burner glowing(all the ingredients delivered and added), then eavesdrop on Kuro in his room (the same as the incense burner), then rest.

Talk to Emma-sama on top of the stairs two times(rest between the two).

Then you get a note from her, rest, talk to her at the old grave of Takeru and Tomoe beneath where the Everlasting Cherry Blossom Tree stood.

Then you go behind to Dilapidated Temple and eavesdrop on Emma-sama and the Sculptor/Sekijo. After you did this, ask Emma-samma about the thing she talked about with Sekijo and what she is hiding.

Then she will give you "Fathers Bell-Charm" which unlocks the second memory of Hirata Estate.

I would advice you to complete the first memory before you do the second, because after you unlocked the "Fathers Bell-Charm" memory, you will be unable to access the first one.

I hope this guide was clear enough, if you want to know more, just ask.
I believe you also need to have defeated Lady Butterfly in the initial Hirata Estate memory.

This is correct. In fact, you can skip the first bell entirely and just use the Father's Bell Charm, and it will put you in the first memory up until you've cleared it.

You can begin the quest (eavesdrop Kuro until he talks about doing "what must be done" and talk to Emma) much earlier than the first post indicates, but you can't complete it until after fighting Great Shinobi Owl. On the other hand, if you don't get the bell before defeating the boss of Fountainhead Palace, you are locked out of this item (and therefore an ending, memory, and two prayer beads) for the current playthrough. (At least I am pretty sure that absolutely none of the steps in the quest other than actually using the bell will work at this point.)
