From the 6 mons you mentioned, most of them sound quite "squishy", with 4/6 being quite fragile, and Aurumtail & Vasuki being the only defensive mons at-hand.
If available, I would recommend poppin' by the Discord channel so we (and other experienced players) can actively chat on buildin' a good team to handle Zosimos.
Like I said above, to beat Zos, you'll need good defensive capabilities to handle him. As a small example, something like Druid Oak, which can simultaneously heal / tank / buff could be a nice cornerstone to a team along with another support and a hard-hitter.
Ummm, this has nothing to do with grinding and everything to do with strategy. TemTem is still very much Pokemon philosophy of “spam attack to win” while Monster Sanctuary has a higher bar which requires more teambuilding. It’s not “random spikes of difficulty” it’s “this is a legit boss which will require more than wild batlles will”. Zosimos is indeed quite beatable, and I would encourage you to pop by the Discord server to discuss with people on “how to improve” and learn the game’s systems instead of just going “game too hard me quit now”.
Temtem is also an entirely different game.
Leveling up/grinding takes minutes, not hours. And you don't need to grind, we all gave you very good suggestions on how to easily win the boss (and the discord has even more strats) and I even post team setups each new patch...
I'm sorry you actually have to play the game and try to build a team. But no, you won't be able to just walk through the game without paying attention to team setups, skill combos, and gear.
I feel like the execution and ratings system sort of mislead you into going full glass cannon- then boom, a boss appears that hits way harder than anything else you've fought so far, and suddenly survival and defences become a thing that you have to pay attention to. Except you don't have any defence-oriented monsters because you went full glass cannon and have to bring them up from scratch...
Don't get me wrong, I love this game and the strategic teambuilding behind it. It's just that execution/rating system is definitely a noob trap you don't see coming, so I do get a bit of OP's frustration. Having to level a new bunch of monsters feels like a chore.
OP: It's a great game: don't be in a rush to finish it. Take your time to look at the monsters and build a team around them- it's part of the fun! If you really want to cheese all fights, look for AoE status effects and shields/heals. All content can be done with such a team.
The game definitely begins punishing the average crit/glass cannon build right around Sun Temple (even Goblins can be a bit challenging depending on the exact setup) and from then on, buffing/debuffing become more important rather than pure phys. dmg.
You'd deal damage very slowly though, so you might get up to Infinite x5 before anything happens.
Toad and Ice Blob is such a nice combination. I also use them on champions while only switching between my DPS for one that is effective against that Champion. I asume you could use Goblin Warlock instead of Spectral Toad, however he's less tanky
But try to solve those puzzles, because this game is really well made, and worth a replay.
My only complaint is that Master rank doesn't give me infinite Shift Stones
