Multiplayer problem. Aways getting disconnected after 4-5 minutes.

I tried 3 games in that match making system, in every single one of them the game randomly disconnects with 5 minutes playing, (now I have 3 defeats, lel)

And yes, my connection is working perfectly fine, I don't even get the usual "only steam client random disconnect", so what can I do? (if there is anything I can do).

I'm really disheartened, I hyped this game way too much believing I would finally be able to play it online (because p2p was terrible on hd, and they said we would have servers on de...)

EDIT1: I noticed that i can't get in the lobby anymore every time that happens (That "trying to connect" message).
I need to restart the game so I can enter the lobby again (just so I wait 5 minutes in the queve to be able to play for 5 minutes before I get kicked by the server xD)

EDIT2: Yes, I tested on the new patches, still nothing changed. I am 0/8 on the ranked ladder. Glorious xD

EDIT3: Yes, I tested most "fixes" in the book. Connecting the pc directly in the cable, changing routers, disabling firewall/antivirus, QoS/etc router settings, etc. Absolutely no change, aways getting kicked out of the game on 4-5 minutes mark :c

EDIT4: I actually managed to finish a match by using a free vpn, and for now that seems to be the only known temporary workaround for that issue (Worked for me, I don't know about everyone else...)

had this problem while playing online. like clockwork for every online game after about 5 mins I would disconnect and it would say that my internet was disconnected but my internet was fine. I disabled my windows firewall and it stopped happening.

All ranked ones that I've started had, felt around 12 minutes. I simply can't play online...

Is this ever going to be addressed? It has been this way for months. I bought the combo for my son and tried to setup a LAN game and every time he tries to connect from my invite gets an error. Game disconnects me 5 mins into game. I play other steam games and this is not an issue. Shows I have a 252 yellow ping right before it disconnected me. I have a solid connection and have never had latency issues. This has always been the plague of the AoE games even since the beginning is they cannot get the network code right. One of the MOST IMPORTANT things in this game. Even if you restart saved after disconnect disconnects 5 mins later. I used to be an IT fella so it's not any of the basics. Judging from all the posts 26 pages worth there is a problem. Does the developer plan on addressing any of these concerns? Shouldn't have to setup a VPN to play a game. Ridiculous.

4 months has passed since OP made this thread.
I've been following both threads, here and on the official AoE2 forum and it's really quiet.
The devs are seemingly not even interested in fixing this issue.

The pro-players are starting to get mad at all the other bugs aswell; villagers standing still, military units not following commands and even standing still when u click to move them, game-breaking melee-pathing, disconnecting/chrashes and more. (Tune in on their streams and you will see)

I noticed they've implemented a save feature, which u can use if u disconnect from a ranked game, but.. you still lost that match and lost your points, now good luck trying to get the other guy to join the saved match just so you can get closure.

I've wasted a little bit of time trying to help the devs, probably more than they've spent on trying to fix the issue.
I've lost some of my money, not getting what i've paid for, which is the multiplayer ranked mode I always get disconnected from.

The time I spent just helping the devs on request to test AoE1:DE (which is a game i dont even like) is enough to void my refund even if I didn't have 200 frustrating debugging hours ingame.
Just to summarize, I've played around 2-300 games, more than half is disconnects and many of the others games i've been able to play through have been plauged by lag and the other issues I've mentioned above.

I still don't understand why this game is praised to the sky and Warcraft 3: Reforged is the worst game on metacritic, atleast I could play the custom games I wanted to play in WC3Reeee and not get disconnected.

I got an automated decline from Steam when trying to refund the game too, even when thoroughly explaining the issue that I literally haven't been able to play the game since buying it several months ago.

God, this ♥♥♥♥ is so annoying.

I got denied for a refund to......had it for almost 2 months tho. Just got tired of the disconnects and figured i would rather have my money back. But nope......just a broken game. Even bought $1000 gaming pc and still has issues with disconnects
