this had a few bugs but most have been attended to. Lots of new civs, campaigns. far better bang for buck and way more things to sink time into.
It is still that good game you remember, and there are indeed few UI improvements which don't
intensely change the gameplay like AoE2DE though. (for example, now you can show the life bar of wounded units only. I remember there is no such feature when I was playing ten years ago.)
And It is worth to be mentioned that the ladder map pools of War3 are much better comparing to the current crappy ranked map pool of AoE2DE. I think It is a still a nice update for the people who only play multiplayer and want to return.
There are so many missing features, bugs and even disrespect towards the original creators (see credits).
I had to torrent the old client to even play the game I bought, that's where we are now.
Slightly improved health bars does not make up for the disaster that is... literally everything else.
You don't need to buy it. It's free if you own the serial number of the original game.
And I don't suggest people to buy it either, if you are not interested in the single player mode.
The new skin is harder to be recognized when you zoom out. The devs obviously don't understand how to design a RTS so they listen to the pros and leave most of the game untouched. It is disappointing, but at least they didn't make the main game worse. And as I just mentioned, there is indeed few UI improvements.
I just installed this game today and I have not encountered the bugs people claimed yet. Maybe because the new patch? They are hard fixing this game anyway.
It is still that good game. Just don't buy it if you think those new skins don't deserve that price.
may come back when on sale and other issues fixed
yea it's too bad WC3 gutted the naval parts and severely gimped army sizes in favor of smaller skirmishes. There was nothing wrong with the hero additions, it made sense with the lore and everything. But just gutting it was a big mistake imo and I never got quite as into it as Warcraft 2 which is still the best out of them all.
It really did stop being a RTS series after War2. There Hero focus in 3 was so great, it birthed the MOBA genre, due to how OP Heroes were when compared to ther units, and the game's emphasis on micromanaging all combat.
That is completely false, Warcraft 3 was still very much an RTS. The Moba aspect only got introduced because of the mod and has got nothing to do with the vanilla game.
All of what makes an RTS is present in Warcraft 3.
But while W3 may not have been a proper RTS like W2, the story and custom map scene really made it shine and it's such a shame to see the devs pretty much ruin it all. They could've kept the classic going as it was and it would probably do better than straight up killing the game with a passionately hated remaster and by deleting the old clients.
