Commie's Basement Hatch

I can't figure out how to get into the hatch, I've tried using the translocator ball on one of the purple beams but it doesn't change to purple. I can't find any other way.

The first ball was orange and I've tried changing its color with the purple gun but it doesn't work. Am I missing something?

I just went back to the main game to see if i was doing something wrong, but nope, I think my game might just be bugged or the mechanic has changed in some way.

the fireball you shoot is red and makes the ball red. what if that fireball becomes purple before it reaches the ball ;)

Maybe that silly skeleton that you could spawn with the bones can assist you in your quest

I figured it out now that I knew the mechanic was changed, thanks.

for anyone else that is struggling that finds this thread, I used the pipe close to the commies house to launch a fireball through a purple beam onto the platform with my translocator ball on it. That was a bit of word salad, if anyone needs further help let me know.
