Turn Shield generator back on?

Is it possible to turn the first Shield Generator back on?
I'm asking about the one you need to use the red keycards on.
I saw a video where someone just swiped the keycard but then just dropped it.
I made the mistake (?) of putting the keycard in the scanner, which then closed & trapped the card. I don't see any way to get it back out.
I'd like to turn the SG back on so I can jump/bounce on the graves.

Similar question in the next area - then one you get the Stomp Shoes.
I've turned off that SG, & then the button went grey.
AFAIK, I need to bounce off a grave to get to the bridge in the upper right. I can't quite reach it from the tower.

The ones that are needed for bouncing can be toggled.
