At Carrot Town. No Stomp boots and can't seem to backtrack.

My son has been playing this on Xbox and just realized he should have the Stomp Boots upgrade by now. He's tried backtracking to where we think they are, but he can't go any farther back than the area where you acquire the tether. Whenever he tries using the pipe to go even farther back, he exits the other pipe in the same area instead of going back to the electricity puzzle.

Is there something he can do to get back to the stomp boots? Can he progress through the game without them?

If you are in carrot town, there is a fast travel pad (if activated) on top of a BLOCK near where the color machine is, which will take you back to a door which leads to where you need to go.

If the travel pad is not activated, then make sure you get the strength upgrade in CARROT TOWN, and then follow the signs to "BLUEVILLE". will take you back to where the electricity puzzle is and then you can get back from there.

The stomp boots are NOT NEEDED there.
