And the guide explicitely says "To get the ball you need to move a wooden object to be able to create a beam".
If you are referring to the "slingshot" scenario from the blue castle front, I'd honestly have to say I think it's crap and should be redesigned or removed. It's illogical because you can throw or shoot force cubes on the receptor without success. Oh, I think I get it; It's the beam itself, isn't it?
This mechanic IMHO definitely needs a slight hint on its first occurence. If there is one already, I had missed it.
That cliff/cage edge thingy can't be reached just yet. You need a certain something later on (which you'll get after you complete the mission you're currently on right now).
To progress... Look around you... See some gold nugget somewhere? Use it with your new ability.
