Urgent: Softlock at mission "Escort your coward cousin"!

I have been re-playing this game the last few days (already have a 100% file, but came back for Crash DLC).

I have gotten to the point where you get the electric current over through the water, and then shoot the MacGuffin at the pole that opens the door where your cousin is trapped. At this point I have saved and exited the game. After having come back, he is no where to be found... I cannot progress because he is supposed to summon the key that lets you get into the door.

Has anyone else encountered this bug? Is there a possible way to resolve it by getting your cousin to trigger again? I tried shooting the pole with electricity again and that did nothing.

Has you opened the door? If yes, have you check the next location where he run?
If no, open the door.

I opened the door. After which he walks to another door with a sign pointing towards Blue Ville, then spawns the key that opens the door to get the translocator. I saved and exited after freeing him, but before he spawned the key. But now he is nowhere to be found.

The guy in the other area is asking me to find the fake golden nuggets again too, even though I already have his electricty pole on.

This is a legitimate bug, however I was able to restore a backed up auto save when I entered the the area with the guy wanting you to find the fake gold nuggets. I have been able to succesfully get the transolocator now.
