Rattle Hag Sword Jump
I literally can not get to the chests on wooden sword in the Rattle Hag area despite scouring almost everywhere with the chest detector on.

Is there an upgrade, other than double/triple, that allows us to jump higher/further?
  1. In comparison to 1:33:32, I can only get around 3/4 reach then fall to ground without even reaching beam proximity, at best.
  2. At 1:34:36 'Game Guides Channel' seems to be gaining height despite only slightly shorter jump duration than the 1:33:32.
  3. At 1:35:30 'Game Guides Channel' runs straight ahead - how is this even possible?

How on earth can I do 2 if I'm not even close on 1?
I can not even get 3/4 of 3 despite no problem using the supraball jump.

In trying to do 1, I'm using Force Cube start, Triple Jump, Teleport (approx 45 degrees) then beam but keep coming up just a little short - surely it isn't meant to be so fiddly?

Try it from the floor. All you need to reach the highest point of the sword is the beam force.

Thank you but from what I've already tried, Force Cube to notch on Attack Post and there to half way up - then what?

EDIT: correction, the attack post isn't close enough to get a beam to the sword so what use is it?
I can jump and beam the sword but only half way up - nothing else is closer.

You can use the beam multiple times to climb up.

Having tried all sorts of things I simply have to give up on this.

Having tried all sorts of things, I have no idea what you mean and have given up.

Between this and scouring the map, with chest detector, getting all barrels but not being able to melt metal I have no idea why I'm supposed to be able to go this far, with no further challenge than beating the main boss, which I have...

What is the point of metal melting anyway?

I have absolutely no idea what you mean. The sword is vertical and even if I try to 'wall walk' beams I fall off - nothing is withing proximity and placing a force cube will not solve this.

Getting the chests on the giant sword is much easier once you have the Happiness upgrade.

Having scoured the map with chest detector on then googled 'Happiness upgrade', as you suggest I am at a complete and utter loss as to what I am supposed to do. Do I need to stamp out each and every volcano to shut that thing up??

I haven't played the base game in ages, but from what I remember, yeah, with the purple beam, I used to Spider-Man the hell out of that giant wooden sword until I reached the top. Having said that, I think it's meant to be reached once you have the upgrade which SazzyP mentioned.

Getting the Happiness upgrade is only recommended when you're near the end-game, or have gathered as many upgrades as possible. It's basically the Defense-Tower game near your Redville village or where-ever your character is from.

With RMB you can pull yourself upward. Shoot beam > rmb > shoot > rmb... till you are at the highest point.

Hey marsHm3lloW, saw you giving hints about Red Coins in the Crash DLC, seems like you know a lot.

For me, my last Red Coin is the one that's far away... I know it involves the yellow ball and the yellow plank... But how? I mean, I know momentum's involved, jump and re-catch the ball to gain a bit of distance in the air... But I dunno man, I just can't seem to reach it. I've even caught the ball again and launch and catch again in mid-air to gain more momentum... But I can't seem to reach it at all. Am I missing something? Could I be missing an upgrade for more momentum?

(I even had to play the base game just to remind myself of how momentum with the yellow ball works)

Stand on the edge then fully load the cannon then shoot then jump backwards, turn around an switch to the teleport ball. Just shoot while you near platform. (do not aim forward, aim a bit higher)

It took me 10 +/- trys so just try and repeat.

I was about to give up on this until I did what you wrote, which was to jump BACKWARDS!!! My mistake was to always just jump vertically without horizontal movement. The moment I jumped backwards as I received the ball... Aaaah thank you! I feel so chuffed!!

There's another secret that requires you to Spiderman your way using the Force Beam. That was how I got the sword chests. You stand on the ground at the base, fire the Force Beam, yank yourself upward, cancel, attach it higher, yank, and repeat until you're on the handle. I played with a controller, but you have so much control of yourself in-air that you can fire yourself upward and a bit away from the sword, which makes it a whole lot easier to aim your next shot. If you stay right on the sword as you're flying up, it's really hard to get up.

I'm guessing that you got it with the superball jump, but the Force Beam sling is fun. It took me a bit to really get the hang of it, but once you do, you can get up the sword really quickly.
