I like dunkey and I bought the game. I still think the private jokes and references are unfathomably cringe.

Just take a look at the reviews, it's just a tidal wave of the exact same 1 or 2 unoriginal dunkey quotes. I get that you like his videos and want to signal it to others, but there's no need to pollute every available space with unfunny jokes, especially ones that are only understandable by dunkey fans.

I for one still don't know who this Dunkey person is, nor do I care. I'm here for the game, which is made by someone else.

Those inside jokes are annoying, but don't let such things ruin your fun.

When I saw the large amount of people who bought this to simply be able to post a meme in the reviews section, I knew to steer clear. Meme culture is a cancer.

Eh - so the game was promoted with jokes. Now those jokes are in the reviews. Still 97% positive, with a total of 5 negative reviews at the time of me writing this, and those 5 are talking about either Art direction or Typical features of a Metroidvania. So it seems like everyone who looks at the art and thinks it's appealing, and knows what a Metroidvania is and likes it, will like the game.

I've bought it, haven't played it yet, but am looking forward to it. The serious reviews seem very positive.

I bought the game. What an utter fallacy. I too find the donkey crowd (read: 12 year olds) insufferable.

The game is great. The game is currently under the support of youtuber VideoGameDunkey. It is Dunkey's company: "BigMode" as publisher and its first game. So the memes and jokes are understandable. The developer Billy Basso is the only developer. So I recommend the game as a nice metroidvania and as a great indie title.

The jokes putting you off of buying a game is pretty stupid, but I also hate those "reviews". Steam users trying to be funny is always a damn treat.
