Altho the combat is pretty simple, its worth noting that most of its ''oomphf'' is in the equipable Aspects and Tunes. For example theres a Tune for Kirika that decreases Force cast time, and an Aspect equipable by everyone that halves Force cast time.
There's also an Aspect that allows your Quick attacks to add Break.
I agree that attacks in general have too much charge time, but sometimes you can get around that. For example, you can combo some Force attacks.
If you were to do:
Quick attack - Break attack -> Quake Smash on Yuma, that will remove much of the charging time from the Break attack and Quake Smash, and moves it feel smoother and faster.
They dont heal characters that are near max, unless you told them to 'focus on healing first'.
That aside, AI does kind of suck in this game. You'll have to choose if you want a character to be healing or using magic, and tailor their selected Force abilities in response.
K.
Yes, like this one.
And no, there are not many great indie jRPGs. Just because a company isnt AAA doesnt make a game they produce indie.
Well, and the artists in this case. Otherwise, agree.
Also the XP leveling is so damn cheap to the point where you need to farm XP like some hardcore MMO.You fight a level 50 monster with your level 40 characters and get 1200 XP, then you fight a Chimera that's level 85 and just gives 150 XP more (1350 or so).Actually a fight against a monster that surpasses you by 45 levels should have been IMPOSSIBLE in the first place, but let's shallow it up and say we win.Not only there's a cap for XP gains when you go higher than the monsters of "that" chapter, but even if you fight a monster that far surpasses you, there's XP cap there too, so you won't get a sh*tload of XP.So....50 or 85?Doesn't matter. You're getting the same XP pretty much, but they did this in order to make the game keep being challenging and you won't be able to one-shot enemies. This IS bad.
I know i said way too many things here but at least i can take the visual novel style conversations.I know it could have been cooler to watch actual cutscenes, but don't expect someone like Sega to do that.
XP is... I'd rather argue its far too easy to overlevel then that leveling is too slow. The XP cap for lower level monsters does seem out of place, as there's always higher level monsters you can fight.
Your better off using her as healer instead.
Kirika has serious MP issues in part because she doesnt attack much (and thus doesnt regain MP). Telling her to attack and not just heal might help a bit with that.
Later on you can just stack -MP reduction (or even continous MP gain) Aspects on her.
Aside from that I'm not sure if MP costs are too high compared to MP gain, or if Rinna is just broken with her ability to MP drain.
