Taking the Sting out of Easy
If you're still finding the game too difficult, even on Easy mode, try the Recruit Difficulty mod. We are making it available since very recently and would like to get feedback.

Autosave in Campaign games
The game will autosave during campaigns (not during standalone scenarios). If you want to make a manual "Save As", enable the following:
Options -> Gameplay -> Allow Save As in Campaign

You will then have a "Save As" option in the game/campaign menu. Remember that the game still autosaves, so if your old savegame was "west.usg" and you saved as "west_01.usg":
  • west.usg is a snapshot of the game where you left it
  • west_01.usg is the new savegame, the campaign now gets autosaved to this file

The specialist reference chart states that artillery shifts are attack only, is this correct?
tomislav.uzelac  [developer] May 7, 2020 @ 4:43am
@tgfseymoo: yes, this has been the case since the original UoC.

Artillery specs have a decent "defense" value though, so they do contribute in defense, but they're not force multipliers like they are on the attack.

I notice that manual has been updated. Are there important things that are still left out? Is it 'finished'?
tomislav.uzelac  [developer] May 9, 2020 @ 10:50pm
@tokyodan: it's not final final, a few pieces are still missing in the campaign section.

Core gameplay rules are complete and detailed though, up to and including cards.

Cheers!

Thanks. With that, the additions, and the great discount it looks like it is time to re-purchase the game then.

I noticed that the link on the top seems to show just my first guide on Interface. I made many more guides about combat mechanics, specialist stragglers and so on. Here is a link to all of them: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwba43MpMuUQIzkT1jMUdmWmdMpFNGPpz

@Sampstra: I updated the link, thx.

My original link was indeed to just the first video, but as part of that very same playlist. The playlist part somehow got ignored when linked from Steam though.

Cheers!

You providing Recruit Difficulty mod is really nice. Most devs don't care, but you show that you do care. Great job!

When the first UoC came out, I posted a link at Matrix praising how smooth the UI was. It still is and you are still using Python. It really pleases me how much care you have had for both of these versions. I will promote this game every chance I get. Thank you for the extra help from videos and text!

Very Long Term Gamer (again)... 20 hours trying to learn to play UOC2. Above posts are many months old. Watched videos (voice speaks too fast!). Supply / HQ / Level 2 operations settings still a Mystery! Can you give detailed instruction on interrelationship of those rules?? With examples?? Too much time required to learn. Very high frustration level. Not good.

Just play the Tutorial and a few scenarios on Easy. Game is fine, there are popups for nearly everything. I've never really read the manual except for some very situational specifics. Maybe watch some people playing it on YoutTube, like Night Phoenix, he posts complete real-time play-throughs.

Edit: YouTube has speeds settings. Sampstras voice isn't really all that I agree, but you can play it on 75% speed.

The specialist reference card in this thread is really helpful. I think the game probably ought to include it in the manual folder in the game directory, like the scenario charts.
