Help: Display and Resolution Issues

Starting with the V-E Day Update (Update 12), the game is able to do UI scaling on its own. To turn this thing on, go to Options and adjust these settings:

• Ignore System UI Scaling: this will make the game ignore the "Make everything bigger" Windows setting. The game will render in native display resolution. Note that the "Make fonts bigger" Windows setting is always ignored for game purposes.
  
• UI Scale: the game will scale (enlarge) UI elements by selected factor, up to 200%. This is done independently of Windows, so you probably want to select the "Ignore System Scaling" option above for anyhing else than 100%.

Q: The game appears to be low-resolution and/or text is blurry

It is possible that you have enabled the "Make everything bigger" setting in Windows. Try enabling Ignore System UI Scaling in Options and then restarting the game.

Q: I have a high-resolution display and text is too small to read

Go to Options, and set UI Scale to desired magnification (up to 200%). Restarting the game is not needed.

Q: I'm running the game in Very High settings on a high-resolution display and the framerate seems low and/or fan is too loud

Go to Options/Video and set Smoothing to Off. This should be of most help with the framerate, and at the same time not too noticeable visually. Another thing to try is to go to Options/General and disable VSync. This eases the burden on the CPU (not GPU) and should help with fan noise in most cases.

Hi all -

I've been having a lot of display issues with the game. This has happened twice, once last year and once last week, both times it's caused me to step away.

Basically, the display will randomly break and remain broken, even after validating, after uninstalling and re-downloading, etc. Menu elements will vanish from the conferences and campaign maps, shadows will break, about 2/3 of the screen will display a still of the map that never updates, etc. I've searched online but no one else seems to have issues like this. The first time the game broke this way, I eventually abandoned it. About a year later, I gave it another go and this time it worked. DOes anyone have any ideas, or has anyone experienced similar issues? Thanks.

@Chevalier: please update your graphics card driver.

Do not rely on Windows saying the driver is up to date, go directly to the manufacturer i.e. download the Nvidia driver through their "GeForce Experience" app.

In case you have an AMD card, go to this link to get the latest driver from AMD:

After that, if the AMD card gives you the "dark screen", please subscribe to the "AMD Fix" mod from the workshop. Yes, AMD has been notified of the bug in their driver, still waiting for a fix from them.

Got it, I was relying on Windows telling me it was up to date. Thank you for the quick response! I figured it had to be on my end, since re-installing failed to sort the issue, but am not technically savvy enough to pinpoint it myself.

UPDATE: unfortunately, neither updating via GEFORCE nor using the AMD fix solved hte issue. Menu elements are still invisible on the conference maps - prestige, HQs, strategic choices, cards, etc. Anything variable vanishes and only the fixed background remains.

I'll keep tinkering.

I`m also having resolution issues. Most of the display is fine, but for whatever reason the HQ abilities screen seems to be zoomed in too far, to the point where I can`t access the engineering abilities(GTX1070 Ryzen5). I`ve tried the AMD fix and made sure I have the latest drivers but nothings changed:

Hi, you can use the CTRL-1 hotkey which will slide the engineering branch back into the screen.

Also: it's possible that you have enabled the "Make everything bigger" setting in Windows. Try enabling Ignore System UI Scaling in Options and then restarting the game.

@ukKo: the only thing that comes to mind is a corrupted file (namely, one of the postprocessing LUT tables). Please try doing a "verify integrity" as described here:

Not sure what is/was the problem, but I just created new account to my Windows 11 and logged in with it. It looks good now.

AMD Adrealine pop-up windows said everything is disabled ill have to try fiddle some settings from that Adrealine panel.

But yeah that problem is likely my windows user profile than in this game.

Guys i need help, I have messed up and am not sure how to fix it.
I have a high resolution monitor so went into settings and whilst messing about changed the UI to 400% Just wanted to see what it looked like.

Now i can't see hardly anything and I cannot see the drop down to change it back from 400%

I think i will need to go into the actual configuration file and change it back to 100% or delete the file and let it recreate itself. BUT I do not know what it is called or where it is

I did try this CTRL 1 thing mentioned but it did not do anything

Help please!!!

How do I solve this? After the first campaignbattle, I am unable to upgrade my HQ. The buttons are out of sight. There is no shortcut and I have tried every single resolution and scaling option, without avail...
