Help: Display and Resolution Issues
Starting with the V-E Day Update (Update 12), the game is able to do UI scaling on its own. To turn this thing on, go to Options and adjust these settings:

  • Ignore System UI Scaling: this will make the game ignore the "Make everything bigger" Windows setting. The game will render in native display resolution. Note that the "Make fonts bigger" Windows setting is always ignored for game purposes.
  • UI Scale: the game will scale (enlarge) UI elements by selected factor, up to 200%. This is done independently of Windows, so you probably want to select the "Ignore System Scaling" option above for anyhing else than 100%.

Q: The game appears to be low-resolution and/or text is blurry
It is possible that you have enabled the "Make everything bigger" setting in Windows. Try enabling Ignore System UI Scaling in Options and then restarting the game.

Q: I have a high-resolution display and text is too small to read
Go to Options, and set UI Scale to desired magnification (up to 200%). Restarting the game is not needed.

Q: I'm running the game in Very High settings on a high-resolution display and the framerate seems low and/or fan is too loud
Go to Options/Video and set Smoothing to Off. This should be of most help with the framerate, and at the same time not too noticeable visually. Another thing to try is to go to Options/General and disable VSync. This eases the burden on the CPU (not GPU) and should help with fan noise in most cases.

None of those options are there Also just reinstalled it in case of a messed up patch and now Steam doesn't seem to be patching the game and I only have 4 scenarios and I have both the available dLC's..It's a great game but something got corrupted when Steam downloaded the last patch Thank you for any help

You are posting in the wrong forum.

This is Unity of Command II. There are no DLCs for this game.

You probably want to post to the Unity of Command forum.

Cheers!

Changing UI scaling did NOT correct the distortion of map colors and lines I am seeing on multiple maps. Eg. I just loaded the brand new workshop item "Operation Konrad-axis" and it is also distorted (unlike the screenshot); railroads are bumpy, wavy, and every hex, even plains, show dimples. Those dimples obscure bridges, hex boundaries, roads, and movement limit lines. WHO WANTS TO PLAY MAPS WITH UGLY GREEN OCEANS and FIELDS. I would have bought Panzer Corps II if graphics didn't matter to me.

To see what I'm seeing, look at the workshop item "Shader Edit Example". I know it's an editor example, but that screenshot shows the distortion I'm getting on every map, every resolutions, with or without ignore system UI scaling checked. Again, my other Steam games like Civ 6 and DCS do not suffer this problem. Again, when I first started playing, this did not happen. Now even reloading the game does not fix it.

@Coerl

Are you subscribed to the "Shader Edit Example"? If so, unsubscribing will fix your issue.
Coeurl Jun 8, 2020 @ 10:01am
Mr. J-manByte, I was subscribed, contrary to your advice in the example. Thank you!

Why did subscribing to this example, change all my color settings (wherever that is done)? I was subscribed to two other workshop items that appeared normal?

I'm using a Microsoft Surface Book, and UI scaling is not working as intended. The display is in 3000x2000px resolution. If I'm using UI scaling, when I have to choose a scenario (like the 2nd scenario of blitzkrieg), I can't choose it as the panel with the description overlaps it. If I turn off system UI scaling the problem is still present, and I can only select the scenarios (meaning, I'm able to click on them) if I turn down in-game UI scaling to 100%. But in this mode the text is painfully small to read. Is there a way to resolve this (even by tweaking the config file)? If not, then I hope there could be a patch sooner or later so I won't need to change scaling back and forth. Other than that, the game is amazing!

@Mickey: I think I understand what's the problem here - your display has a 3:2 aspect ratio and too much of the campaign map ends up underneath the sidebar to the right.

I don't think changing the campaign map itself is an option at this point.

We can try adding a hotkey (TAB?) that cycles through scenarios without clicking on them. Alternatively, a hotkey that moves the sidebar out of the way.

It may also be possible to let you click *through* the sidebar (I am not 100% sure for this one). I will take a look and let you know.

Cheers!

@Tomislav Thanks for the reply. I'd be more than happy if using TAB could allow me to choose from scenarios. I learned the hard way how awkward trying to play games on high resolution with the Surface Book's aspect ratio could be. Of course, it's not a gaming machine, but it's adequate. So, anyway. Thanks for your reply, and I hope sometime that TAB-key based scenarios selection could become part of an update. Thanks again!

How I can to reduce part of UI and other such stuff?

Campaign screen too large for my monitor. Right side of the screen is gone out. I can't read designer notes.
In game I can't even find End Turn button, because it lies out of the screen.

@Terronezov: subscribe to the mod below, and this will help with seeing the "End Turn" button in-game.

I don't have a solution for the designer notes yet. I'll think about it.

Cheers!

@tomislav.uzelac.
Alright. Also, I made a screen where low-resolution make using some HQ abilites harder. I hope that might help to improve this mod.
