Sequel?
Are the devs still working on that sequel they said they were working on?

From DevBlog (2017/02/25): http://www.soothsayergames.com/2017/02/a-few-words-on-redux/

Delnar and Richard – both of whom had limited time to contribute – eventually were forced to admit that the immensity of the task was beyond what was possible under their contracts, and with regret we decided to mothball the whole project.

For me this means that the sequel project is on hold, because everybody involved only got limited time and currently there are no resources to employ a full-time developer.

Note, that's only the Redux project (the project to remake the FotW with bugs removed). FotWO is not on hold AFAIK.

Thanks for clearing this up.

It's been quite a while now since it has been announced that there will be a sequel. Since then and now there was a lot of radio silence in the media channels, especially if your main source for information is the corresponding facebook page and not soothsayergames.com

Might be a good idea to get corresponding domain names for those two projects so that the information situation is cleared up a bit.

While I'm in intermittent contact with the Soothsayer guys, I'm not actually a part of the team or the efforts for FotWO (the Redux was the only project I signed onto, and that was before we realized how ridiculously massive of an undertaking that would be), and assuming all goes well for me with my university work, it will likely stay that way (PhDs tend to keep people too busy for other work). You'll want to talk to them directly if you've got concerns or suggestions.

Hi all, dev here... just to confirm what Delnar says, we are still proceeding with development of the sequel; you can track our progress on our website devblog here:

http://www.soothsayergames.com/dev-blog/

Long story short, we had a difficult first year as a company, but have bounced back, and are now hard at work on our Kickstarter campaign. Expect to hear a lot more from us over the coming weeks!
Glad to hear! I'm excited

We are currently closing in on 2018. The game was released in 2011. That's six years-plus, and the game has not improved a lot, and honestly goes for a couple of bucks on every website sale. Anyone who pays $10, well that's their money.

I paid when it was first released and was not impressed. Looks like a money grab for people not familiar with a six-year-old game.

To be fair, the original devs of the game had problems even before it launched, and they folded outright in I think 2013. Some of the original team finally managed to acquire the rights in I think 2015 or 2016. I originally agreed to assist with a project that involved working with the original game's source code, but the code is so byzantine, the game is so old (and thus development on it would not be as financially viable), that the new dev team is so tight with resources that I doubt the original game will get any serious update.

All well and good, but they are selling it on Steam for $10. Tricky of them.

Thank you for your interest and support (or helpful criticisms). We're announcing our Kickstarter to fund development of a sequel - Fate of the World Online. Link to our campaign is here http://kck.st/2yDIvvT

That's good! I've been waiting for a sequal for years, I loved the original and after looking at the pics from the kikstarter, am super hyped!

So... Is there any chance of a sequel ever? Or did all hope die completely with the failed kickstarter campaign?
I would be very interested in any potential sequel, or some Redux version with updated statistics and historical events.

I realise I am probably just shouting into the void here, but I figured it was worth a shot. ^^
