I received a reply:
"Dear Max,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

We are sorry to hear of your issues with Tomb Raider Anniversary.

In order to continue from a previously saved game, you would need to select play game from the main menu and then load game.

This will then show you the save games you have and allow you to load from them.

If you have any other issues, do not hesitate to get back in touch.

Kind regards,

The Square Enix Support Centre team

And my answer:

"Hello,
i have the saved game, but don't show load/Continue to select, I been play for a year, it's ok until September, the last time I have been played, I have trying to do a new profile, but after save a checkpoint and exit the game, i don't find load or continue, but only new game.
I'm not the only one, on steam other user have this issue:

Best regards"

Yeah, I got confused by that too :-) Started the game again, didn't see a "resume"/"load", started a new one. When I reached the first checkpoint I wanted to manually save, then quit, then see whether it works this time, and start investigating if it didn't. But I saw all my saves in the list, so I cancelled the save and loaded an existing file instead.

I hope I can somehow access this without having to "new game" every time...

I solved it by renaming a manual save to autosave.trasave and replacing the existing one (in Documents\Eidos\Tomb Raider - Anniversary\<profile name> ). Only had to do this once, been able to continue the game normally. Other thing I did (don't rememeber if it helped) was rename the default profile folder and loading that profile.

Wow good idea thx! Could solve the problem that way. At start of TR, i got the message "Autosave is damaged. Will be recreated"
I have just renamed one of my manual saves to "autosave.TRASave" just as you wrote...and after restart of the game...voila....it will let me toad the save game. :)
But do a backup of your savefiles first :)

Creating a new profile did it for me.

I just had this same issue and freaked out a little! o_O
But your idea worked perfectly. Thanks guys! I guess it's a good idea to keep one or two manual saves going just in case the game craps itself.

Just click on Load Game and you will be able to start where you last saved your game. If you can't see Load game from Main Menu go into any level, clicl ESC and you will see Load option ;)

Try to execute as admin and/or compatibili mode

if don't fix it try the follow step:

1) backup the profile folder (all profile you create)
2) delete the profile folder (all profile you create)
3) star a new game and save
4) exit the game
5) restore the original profile folder (from the previus backup)

that work for me.

Oh my god thank you. The game just screwed my profile for no reason after 100% completion.

Interesting workaround.
