The boys are back, and things have only gotten weirder.

The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark is everything a sequel should be: bigger, funnier, smarter, and somehow even more cursed. Where the original game was a charming supernatural sitcom with light puzzles, Fumble in the Dark is a full-blown occult odyssey, still drenched in pixel art charm and laugh-out-loud writing, but now with richer environments, longer cases, and even deeper lore.

You once again step into the trench coat of Detective Francis McQueen, who’s still the only guy in Twin Lakes willing to acknowledge that ghosts, demons, and ancient sleepwalk cults are very real, and is very bad at following regulations. Together with the lovably daft Officer Dooley (the true heart of the series), you investigate 6 full-length cases (plus bonus content!) spanning everything from missing persons to haunted retirement homes and sentient puppets.

The puzzles have evolved: they're more layered, more interconnected, and more rewarding. Every pixel hides a joke, and every joke hides a punchline you didn’t see coming. Somehow, the game manages to balance genuinely clever writing with deeply stupid moments, and I mean that in the best way.

A Fumble in the Dark is what happens when a passion project levels up, without losing its weird little soul. It’s point-and-click done right: no fluff, no filler, just fantastic supernatural mysteries, laugh-out-loud moments, and enough occult nonsense to require several layers of tinfoil.

I didn’t just enjoy this game, I lived in it. And I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
