Whatched Dev Stream Somebody posted...World Looks Empty?
Let me start by saying I don't know for sure, reason I'm asking. I watched the Dev in game video someone had posted, and it appeared to me the world seemed a bit empty and lifeless.

I could be wrong. Just it looked from what I saw not much vegitation like trees etc, no animals, very few NPC and monsters except if felt like pre set locations, not many structurs.

The expanse view I saw gave the feeling of just empty low vegitation terrain.

Maybe someone who saw the live stream got more than I did, could share their view. I did not watch the whole stream yet, so could have missed out.

I could be wrong, hope I'am. Still looking forward to Outward.

No opinions on Dev stream of game? I was hoping some fellow steamers would give their view on what the world looks like. Regardless its a a buy for me, I liked what I did see, and the Dev playing, don't recall name, seemed pretty honest and it was funny at times.

I will be purchasing, even if I have concerns of the world density (not sure thats the right word) but...

Hey Hexton, I was the dev on stream :)

To be quite honest, we never intended Outward to have the same density as most open world games. First off, we can't even pretend to have the resources to pull that off, we're a small team and this is shown in the price point of the game.

We wanted a bigger ratio of the experience to be focused on traveling, finding your way, managing your resources, exploring to find hidden dungeons, that sort of thing. So while our outdoors are vast and surely some will find it too empty for their taste, we do have density of encounters and content while in dungeons or in the towns.

It's also a matter of pacing. Since every encounter can turn real bad (such as a defeat scenario that takes you far away from your current location or destination), and we don't want days to go too quickly and force the player to constantly be looking for food/water/sleep, it meant having less encounters while outside, otherwise it could become very frustrating to navigate the outdoors, beyond the challenge level we were aiming at.

As for the density of vegetation, that depends on the area you're in. But don't expect a world as lush as in Witcher 3, for instance. We made some technical compromises to make the game playable in split screen.

I hope that answers your questions!

Ya thanks for responding. Looking forward to wondering and exploring your world as a lone Mage.

i know it's not anything like kenshi like i saw in a few threads but god this is how i'd want a kenshi sequel to visually look, I just hope there is roaming armies around, starving bandits, just a world that is alive and is moving and doesn't care about your existence, like having the ability just to watch a group of starving escaped slaves attacking farmers, stealing their food..only to be encountered by a wandering band of soldiers from one of the dominating groups on the map..that could be wiped out lol (think kenshi is a even smaller group of devs)

i know dreams big and probably not that type of game but daaaaaaaaaaaaamnnn i can hope something like that appears in it.
