Favorite Weapon and Spell?
I'm about 25 hours in, and I've found a weapon I really like - the Golem Beast Halberd. I've always loved Halberds in Dark Souls (soooo powerful in PvE and decent in PvP). And this Beast Halberd is huge with a really nifty defensive special attack. And it bleeds.

For spells, Call to the Elements is by far the best spell I have. Dmg + Res depending on where you cast! If you cast in the Forest you get +20% Ethereal Dmg and Res, which is awesome again'st hose annoying-*** ghosts. Gesus, I don't think I've played a game with more frustrating ghost enemies.

Anyway, what about y'all?

I prefer Greataxe, but halberds are a good option if you’re having trouble with the combat and find yourself trading hits with other weapons.

Also loving the rune magic - makes dealing with ghosts a nonissue due to my sexy blade summoning spells. Pair that with the Spellblade skill tree and you’re shooting lasers out of the damn blade like a madman.

So you're saying I'm a noob for using the Halberd lol? I like the reach, knockback, and bleed, and it fits my Shaman / Warrior look well.

Great Axe seems pretty popular. Guess it makes the game a little easier ;)

Not at all. Irl, halberds and spears are obviously the superior weapons due to their range advantage. I just prefer greataxe for the speed. It’s trickier to use due to being closer to the attacker, but the combos are speedy and punishing.

I'm just having fun with ya. Greataxes are pretty solid - flashy special combo, and the Execution skill (which didn't really do it for me). But overall a good choice. Certainly high combo potential.

The execution skill is definitely weak. Much better to get the Halberd skill off the knight before leaving the starting town.

Fire/ Reload, Opportunity Stab, and passives. The only skills you need.

Start by rushing fang weapons then graduate to brutal and get opportunity stab. Then rush the crystal brand and a heavy cannon pistol. From here you are golden. Just add an obsidian pistol and manticore dagger if you want to inflict extra DoT.

You can add traps to this for max effect. You can set traps at the entrance then round up all the enemies and pull them into it. This will work on light mender provided you have the stamina needed to sprint away from him to lose the aggro.

I rarely use anything other than master trader armor.

the icy mace is just godly. 50 impact damage on a 1.1 speed, and 47 dmg... heavy attack on it nearly gets rid of an enemy's entire stability bar. barely any stamina required per swing... yea, it trivialized melee.

early on though, the gladius is really good, at 1.2 speed and decent damage. kick and shieldbash will knock em down really easily, then it's slash slash slash.

2handers are inferior tbh, they require too much stamina to swing. there's always a better shield and 1hnder combo at any point in the game imo.

Wind infusion is just godly for melee attacking, who doesn't like faster attacks and more impact damage! Combine that with the 1h sunfall axe heavy triple attack and you are a blender of destruction.

IRL, 2-handers dominate due to delivering death from a distance.

In-game... it’s really all about who hits first and who has the higher impact damage.

I used Worldedge for a while, but since I was given some very cool ice-boosting armor from a certain faction I've been using the Skycrown mace. I buff with cold boon, cold varnish, wind infusion, rage, discipline, and my dps goes off the charts. 100+ damage a swing, most of it cold element.

eh, depends how u play, rune knights rollen book for a shield lol.
Encountered the starchild sword early on but it felt op so GOLEM HALBERD!

Dreamer Halberd is pretty amazing, as is the Thrice Wrought Halberd. Both damage and in looks. However, my ultimate favorite weapon is probably the Radiant Wolf Sword. Indestructable, fast, gives off light, and does pure lightning damage. Granted it tends to come up short against light mender and his lightning cronies but for nearly everything else it really tears through them. Physical damage is pretty 'meh' in this game as every single creature in the game seems to have SOME resistance to it. As far as spells go... I don't really use a whole lot of spells other than buffs and boons, but if I had to pick a favorite, it'd be runic healing. REALLY handy to have that spell since it lets me carry a lot fewer potions and bandages.

+1. Runic Healing is best girl. Backpack space is life.
