Game save override
So I encountered an issue. My latest empire was on year 2040 with lots of development, half of the map covered in buildings, all that good stuff. Today I started the game and the only save available is from months ago when the empire was on year 1970s. This is honestly super devastating. Is there any way I could recover my old save? I feel like what happened was that the older save was overritten with a new one somehow loosing all that progress. I spent so much time on that empire and I would REALLY appreciate if someone could help

you might be able to use this guide to find where your save game is saved and go from there? (take game save files from your save you want copy and paste into a working save)

I wish i could help more.

Thank you for suggestion. In my case Its not as critical since all I care about is restoring my save file. I have lost so much development on the map because somehow several month old file did override my current save file. So that's what I am looking for, I just want to restore my latest save with all the progress. I have honestly lost probably 100hours of progress.

I think I know what you mean, I guess you forgot to hard save and left it on default save auto save, im not sure if I can help if you did that

I always save right when I start my map so I can go back

It is best to disable auto saves and save manually every 30 minutes or so with the game paused while saving. This will reduce the chance of corrupted save files. Usually after every 50 hours I will duplicate the save file. That way I can go back and restore my main save if it somehow becomes corrupted.

Me personaly I´m ok with autosave. Doing that every 20 minutes.
However I save manualy after every session.
I rename the saves using the alphabet.
This way I´ve got 26 saves to chose from if necesarry.

Sorry that I could not come with a sollution but only a suggestion about how to avoid that in future.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I can't believe there's nothing can be done. I tried looking into restoring previous versions of the save files but it didnt work.

So much wasted time :(

Not sure it would help, but if you play on Windows, can you try to restore the folder via previous antivirus/system save point (restoration point)? The system usually keeps a copy of last few windows updates edits in case of anything going south and needing to revert back

Maybe you can reach out to the devs.
Idk if there is anything that could be done. I doubt it tbh. But maybe I´m wrong.

Best of luck Comrade.

Maybe one last thing:
A closed door often opens some others and a new start may feel refreshing in a short time.

That's a good suggestion, I tried but it won't work :(
Well, that will surely be a hard earned lesson, then. You lost in votes in a revolution that occured.

Take it on a positive note - the republic is no longer in need of your micromanagement, they happen to be self-sufficient enough. Now you can build a new one, a better one, with minimum of your previous mistakes (and lots of new ones probably?).

Now for wrath! Now for ruin and the red dawn!
