Mods for 1900, 1920, 1930 early start - collection, discussion, lets help each other
Hello.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2617743266

I have created a collection of all the mods (none of which I wrote) which should help anyone who wants to change their vanilla start date to a pre WW2 era.

This includes all the horse vehicles, small and tiny buildings, 1917+ Model T mod, 1920 American cars pack, old and early ships and trains, churches, village buildings, early residential buildings that do not require asphalt, sometimes no cement.

I would like to invite you to a discussion on whether a mod should be on this list (there might be some that are too modern, but perhaps there is nothing else available to substitute) and also suggest a mod that SHOULD be on this list.

1900-1920 is best start for the game :steamhappy:

Sooo.... I would really like if the older buildings did not need to be constructed with ASPHALT.

Especially smaller ones. I realize that asphalt is quite old, from, say 1900 on, and in 1907 it was already a thing, but still......

Gravel, boards, bricks, cement maybe.

Fun fact: asphalt has been used since roman times

In the ancient Middle East, the Sumerians used natural bitumen deposits for mortar between bricks and stones, to cement parts of carvings, such as eyes, into place, for ship caulking, and for waterproofing.[2] The Greek historian Herodotus said hot bitumen was used as mortar in the walls of Babylon.

Hello,

I'm not sure about chemicals using for the production of fabric (clothes). The "chemicals" for fabrics in the early 1900s was from animal or crops, not from oil. Flax, cotton, wool(crops), maybe leather (animal) for fabric... I understand, the game is mainly situated in 1960+... was a huge age of "POLY* clothes".

Currently, the biggest disadvantage of starting in 1900 is the absence of trains.. road vehicles were slow and carry nothing compare to trains. There are so many beautiful buildings, but no trains :/

And next in the "cosmonaut" mode is a missing continuity of growing. For iron ore mine you need steel, for producing a cement need concrete and so on... For this "tiny" collection could be nice to have this kind of continuity

Asphalt is fine :D. Only pitty is a fact, that for build up a bitumen "factory" you need... asphalt. What a surprise again!!

As we all know the soviet era started in 1917.
So, makes perfectly sense if we have, in a game with 'soviet republic' in the title, a choice to start with that early date and see all the challenges a Lenin saw in modernizing a mostly retarded country.

Minus the civil war, hunger, disease pandemy, party + social purges (yet), even no WW2 ... so a rosy Disney version of grim history. ^^
But at least something for added historical challenge.

I like the early starts but having NATO borders is really unrealistic as it did not exist before 1949
