DOOM Eternal
Most gory or jump-scary parts of the game? (Spoilers)
I love Doom new and old, but I also get frightened easily. Not a good combination. So I'd like to know if there are any particularly gruesome parts in Eternal, or if there are any sudden, unexpected violent parts or jump-scares?

For reference I got used to the glory/chainsaw kills in 2016 after a while since they only happen at the player's command, go by very quickly, and there's not too much detail to the gore compared to something like modern Mortal Kombat. From what I've seen it's the same in Eternal, so that shouldn't be a problem. However I had significant trouble when realistic humans were involved, such as when you pick up a torso and see the face close-up, or the messy half-skeletonized remains under the elevator near Olivia's lab.

I know it's a strange question for a game like this, but any information would be appreciated.

No jumpscares. Also, the game's style is more cartoonish. As a result, what would be in 2016 a torso, is now a glowing green pick-up that floats.
There is way less focus on horror in this one. There are no scripted jump-scares whatsoever unlike the last one and while it is a more violent game, the violence has taken a turn towards the cartoonish, even going so far as having literal cartoon sound effects during glory kills such as a pop when ripping out the eye of a cacodemon. Think a more extreme version of Itchy & Scratchy. The humanoid enemy types generally look less human this time as the demons that are made from humans were turned less recently and have thus gotten farther in their transformation.

Basically, you should be fine. Watch some footage of combat if you are unsure. That being said, it is an extremely stressful game with a very high tempo that tries its darndest to make you feel overwhelmed, so don't get discouraged from lowering the difficulty level if needed.
Thanks a lot!

After reading about Eternal it sounds like I'll enjoy the gameplay and high pace. It's mostly realistic or surprising violence against humans that gives me trouble, while I didn't have much trouble with the demons in 2016.
You play as the jumpscare in this game.
just a warning, in the intro you carry a head in your hand... literally!!
there's only 3 (i think?) scenes where you kill "humans", the first one is the one i referenced, the oter two are way ahead in the story.

Thats why i called them "human", i know they are more demon than human, but just for the sake of the answer, they look enought human to be mentioned as "realistic"... if that makes any sense
I understand your condition. I think the most unpleasant and stretched episodes are the cutscenes involving the deaths of 3 hell priests which you can always skip. The rest is bearable in my opinion.

I saw different chainsaw animations in early trailers in which some of zombies put their hands to protect themselves from chainsaw blade and it resulted in cutting the limbs along with other body parts. Devs removed those animations for some reason.

I don't ever remember seeing that, tho that was present in 2016
Not really jumpscares, but on some levels enemies do have a habit of bursting through floors/walls. Which, depending on the enemy, and the room you are in, can generate a legit "OH SH#T" moment.

It's in the game, but it's slightly different.
Zombies will protect themselves with their right hand as you cut straight through it and cut them diagonally
I'll have to look up the hell priests then, thank you. As for enemies trying to protect themselves from the chainsaw, some of them do that in 2016 too.

It's hard to explain the specifics of what disturbs me personally, but a human enemy in Doom exploding from your rockets in an over-the-top and abstract manner isn't a problem, compared to a scene in a certain horror game where the protagonist's fingers are cut off while he's strapped to a chair. The former is "more violent", but the latter is significantly more horrific. It has more of a psychological impact, so to speak. (Which is the point since it was a horror game.)

How did 2016 have jump scares?
if a demon suddenly appearing out of nowhere and almost killed you counts as jumpscare, then i think its marauder in urdak level

Best comment I've seen in a while.
