Basically, you should be fine. Watch some footage of combat if you are unsure. That being said, it is an extremely stressful game with a very high tempo that tries its darndest to make you feel overwhelmed, so don't get discouraged from lowering the difficulty level if needed.
After reading about Eternal it sounds like I'll enjoy the gameplay and high pace. It's mostly realistic or surprising violence against humans that gives me trouble, while I didn't have much trouble with the demons in 2016.
there's only 3 (i think?) scenes where you kill "humans", the first one is the one i referenced, the oter two are way ahead in the story.
I saw different chainsaw animations in early trailers in which some of zombies put their hands to protect themselves from chainsaw blade and it resulted in cutting the limbs along with other body parts. Devs removed those animations for some reason.
Zombies will protect themselves with their right hand as you cut straight through it and cut them diagonally
It's hard to explain the specifics of what disturbs me personally, but a human enemy in Doom exploding from your rockets in an over-the-top and abstract manner isn't a problem, compared to a scene in a certain horror game where the protagonist's fingers are cut off while he's strapped to a chair. The former is "more violent", but the latter is significantly more horrific. It has more of a psychological impact, so to speak. (Which is the point since it was a horror game.)
How did 2016 have jump scares?
