man battlemode is really hard to get into

spent most of today finally getting around to battlemode and man does it seem hard to enjoy as a newerish player

i'm passable as slayer but get rolled by demons when they actually know how to play (esp. dreadknights) and i just get rolled period when attempting to play demons

honestly demon gameplay in general is frustrating why do i have to cycle through summons first and then confirm the selection instead of just having a dedicated key for each of the four

not to mention the constant "player left lobby" "lobby is not full enough to start game" "lobby disconnected" and """afk""" demon teammates


i really want to get into the mode but when 4/5 games get closed and the 1 game is a coinflip on either slayer or demon steamroll before i can even learn how to adjust and adapt it just kills any motivation to actually try and get better

out of ~30ish games i played only 3 actually felt fun and enjoyable (evenish skill-level, came down to final rounds). is there a trick i'm missing or something i need to get a better grasp on or should i just focus getting the achievements and then getting out?

That's the story of any game with a small dedicated multiplayer base, all you're left with after so long are the players that really enjoy it and are the best at it and then you come in wanting to try it and get stomped by them and then don't want to bother with it. Maybe at some point Doom Eternal will be free somehow and that would be the chance to get to play with a bunch of other new players wanting to try it and have a somewhat "average" player base.

its not hard to get into, it is probably but for sure in my opinion the worst pvp mode Doom has brought up as of today.
Many hated it, many didnt like it. Only the hardcore fans stuck with it.
Meanwhile I am looking at "Evolve" and saying to myself loud:
"If we only could have predicted that outcome by looking at similar cases before!".

Similarly, the slayers who b!tch and moan when I, as Arch Vile, run/hide, when the Arch Vile literally IS an elusive demon... and then THEY run and hide the moment Dread Knight goes Berserk.

yeah i ran into triggerly a few times though didn't get mocked to any degree, maybe i was just lucky
rolled me twice as a dreadknight then again as slayer

did keep running into a guy with the barbarian skin which consistently always had the lobby closed or similar, and the game i did finally get in had an "afk" revenant, so no clue what was going on there but we talked a bit during the "game"

did have a marauder give me some tips though regarding fighting as slayer, knowing when to pull out and push in etc

Maybe try tenemode, a modded version of battle mode it’s all been reworked a lot of “cheesy” tactics have been removed such as passive cool down on dread knights berserk, the dread knight has to land energy waves to get it but also has more health (most demons have more health
The slayer and the other demons have their first meta upgrade as default
Archvile has been reworked it has more mobility options , but it’s fire wall is transparent so cannot slow the pace with it but if the slayer does want to walk though it it’s big damage
Rev dashing is much faster i think same as slayer
Oh no summons either other than baron of hell if they chose that for their late game upgrade there still fodder of course

funny cause you only play noobs who are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and then get high on the leaderboard, and call ME a stomper? at least i still play slayers that are good (most of the time, depends if im solo queueing or not)

yeah honestly i don't even really get the appeal of dodging to begin with
you don't learn much and there isn't a sense of accomplishment coming out on top

like hell for damn sure you taught me respect the ♥♥♥♥ out of berserk and constantly be aware of dread teleports, trying to get the hang of ballista-boosting because of it since it's more consistent than playing portal, especially after getting pinned against one on cooldown

ballista + chainsaw is pretty much your best friend when it comes to berserk
portal isnt too good of an option against a dread who knows what they're doing, you can try waiting out their orb though
