Stuck at Wolf/Dog part of first level of TAG2
In the opening bit of the first level (World Spear) of TAG2, there's a bit where you have to open a skull gate, after which a green ghost dog runs to a sconce and triggers a battle (similar to the ones in the Blood Swamps) where the sconce is surrounded by fog and demons come out of the fog. I had no issues with progression locks in that level, but here, I cannot get the dog to trigger the battle. It runs near the sconce, but it just stays there no matter where I move or how long I wait. I have already:

Restarted at a checkpoint multiple times
Restarted the level multiple times
Restarted TAG2 multiple times
Verified my game cache
Skipped/Not skipped the optional fight immediately before the dog (where you pick up the armor and the pain elemental spawns with the shield guys)
Changed my resolution when opening the skull door
Changed my aspect ratio, both at the menu and in-game before and after opening the skull door
Beaten the dog to the spot where he freezes after opening the skull door
Waited until the dog got to his spot, then approached him

What should I do to move past this part?

EDIT: Solved.

Yeah, I triggered this bug on Bethesda.net launcher. It just got stuck and nothing happened.

Same problem. It lit the torch the first time, then I died. Then the dog just sits there next to the torch. I tried restarting, and played through from the start and the same thing happened.

MY SOLUTION: if I quit to desktop then load the game it works the first time - you have just got to watch out for the millions of pinkies after the torch goes out.

you have to set your game to its lowest resolution and put on 4:3 ratio.

Solved. You have to set the aspect ratio to 4:3 AND set the resolution to its lowest. You can revert to your preferred aspect ratio and resolution as soon as the dog jumps in the sconce. I'm only speculating, but I would not be surprised in the slightest if the dog won't jump in at a low frame rate, and the aspect ratio/resolution fix works because it invariably significantly increases the frame rate.

I am glad this worked for you. I reloaded from checkpoint without changing things and it worked. I lucked out.
Doesn't worked for me: 4:3 and 640x480

Maybe turn down your graphics settings to the minimum?

I’ve tried that as well. Nothing gets the dog to move. Just sits at the point where it’s supposed to jump into the torch.

You do have to restart from checkpoint after changing the settings.
