Quick switching with mouse wheel?
I'm trying to get better at quick switching and would like some advice. For people who do quick switches with weapons bound to scroll wheel up/down, how do you manage it? Is it just a matter of practice until you can do so quickly? Do you do the actual switching with the weapon wheel button? Do you hold the mouse in such a way that you have your middle finger on the wheel at all times?

I'm not talking about the weapon wheel, I'm talking about binding specific weapons to mouse wheel up/down.

I have the super shotgun and the ballista on wheel up / wheel down and I switch with the same finger I use for mouse 1 and never had any problems. I think it's a matter of practice or maybe it's the wheel on the mouse. Mine is very sensitive so I can switch pretty quickly.

I tried doing this too but I am not really used to this setup. I find it hard to quick switch between mousewheelup and mousewheeldown so I bound the BFG and Crucible to these instead.

I personally use mhweel down and up for bhops and normal keys for quick switching.

Yes, it is ALL practise 100 of hours.
Also check this video, should help you a lot

My keybinds are something like that

1 = Shotgun
4 = Plasma gun
Q = SSG
E = Rocket launcher
R = Super shotgun
Y = minigun
F = blood punch
T = BFG

Q - > E - > R is my usual combo to go
But there is 100 of different combos and some are faster than others, i really advise you to watch the vid :)

Deadhead Sep 22, 2021 @ 5:36pm
q = plasma
c = heavy cannon
1 = shotgun
2= rocket
3= chaingun
mouseup = ssg
mouse down = balista
4=bfg

thats my bindings and it works out really well for me. Whatever binding you choose you just need to get used to it.

Honestly, I strongly recommend avoiding binding weapons to mouse buttons as much as you can.

I bound ssg to a thumb button and committed it to muscle memory, and deeply regret doing so. Pressing it can cause my hand to slightly move inward which can tweak my aim unfavorably.

Luckily the SSG doesnt really require aim, but if you're switching fast it can be jarring.

Yeah, I stopped using the thumb buttons because of that as well but I have super shotgun on mouse wheel down and ballista on mouse wheel up but I fire and switch with the same finger since its easier for me than getting used to having other finger on scroll wheel all the time.
It also helps to move other weapons to closer keys like I have Rocket Launcher on 4, Chaingun on T, and BFG on F. I also have grenade on mouse wheel click and switch grenade on dpi button.

I respectfully disagree, side buttons are very useful imo and I can't do without them anymore.

I mean, I'm in the same boat. I have SSG bound to a thumb button and havent been able to adjust to mapping it anywhere else. I still feel like it would be better bound to a key.

I also have melee/glory kill bound to a thumb button and that works alright because aim isnt a factor.

what are the rest of your keybinds? id like to try them out as this seems like a rather efficient keybind setup
