Final boss fight is impossible for you to die in
This is obviously a spoilerful post so don't look if you haven't finished game.

Is this one of the easiest final fights in a while or what? You are told exactly what to do in the beginning. The battle area is filled with crucible ammo, chainsaw ammo, blood punch ammo (first time that it appears), BFG ammo, and some of them respawn very often. With every swing of the crucible, you get plenty of health from the heavies. I was rarely below 150 health when I played this, and I never died. Even if you die once or twice, it's still easy, because there are regular fights much tougher than this. There is a lower level you can go to that shields you from the missiles from the icon of sin. And the layout of the whole place is not confusing at all. And on top of that, (1) demons often engage in in-fighting, and (2) the icon of sin often kills the demons FOR YOU with his attacks. That gives you a lot of free time to fire at him. And as I said, you get basically unlimited ammo and plenty of health. The spectacular pyrotechnics that occur during the fight may give you the impression you are under GREAT PERIL, lol. But the truth is this is an easy fight. I did not die once at UV in the two stages of the fight with him. This wasn't the case with the final boss fights of the last game!

Uh, there's blood punch ammo on the map with the fight with the Maykr. You must not have looked high enough.

And even running around grabbing all the crucible ammo I could, my health was constantly drained away to the warning stage by the ton of enemies constantly swarming me, and no matter how often I tried to take potshots at the Icon occasionally, I would just get mauled en masse by tons of goons.

I died at least 10 times to the Icon of Sin on my first run despite the infinite ammo.

I don't think you tried hard enough, I died way more times then that.

Me too, You can have all that OP claim, but you have to actually use it. If you time wrong going out to hunt some demons you'll get slaughtered by Icon of Sin sieges.

Going into the fight blind on nightmare was pretty brutal. I tried doing it without the BFG at first, but eventually I gave in.

He's pretty easy once you learn the best way to deal with him though. Quick switch between the ssg, ballista, and rocket launcher to deal damage, and use the energy shield on the chaingun to block his attacks

SAME. Had about 7 extra lives on my first full run on DE UV, have never lost a life to a Marauder, and literally the Icon is completely wrecking me and all my extra lives somehow.

I die there several times on Nightmare, but yeah, the second stage IS easier than the first. Also extra lives take away the thrill since there is literally no challenge entering the Icon boss fight with 10+ extra lives, but doing it with one life is hard. Like, really hard.

Since the tendrils don't hurt him and there's always a chance he'll dodge the main projectile, BFG isn't the best.

IoS is the one thing that the Unmaykr is really good for tbh.

I never use the BFG to kill the Icon, the BFG is designed as a crowd control weapon, in fact I think a dev even called it a "nuke" at one point, the Unmyker is designed to kill a specific target.

You need 2 direct BFG shots to kill a Baron, or you could use 15 direct Unmyker shots to kill a Baron. In other words, the Unmyker does around x4 damage compared to a BFG ball but the extra effect of the tendrils still makes the BFG better at crowd control.

Agreed, hopefully the Final Sin master level will have Marauders and Archviles in the bossfight. I also don't like how they reused the "floor is lava" style attack that the Khan Myker used.

I'm shocked to hear some of you found it so difficult. I'm just an average player, and haven't even tried Nightmare yet. The weapons you use may make a difference, though. Slow-projectile weapons like BFG and rocket launchers are garbage because the boss is too far away and you can easily miss. Plus, the BFG ammo doesn't respawn that often. The unmakyr is also garbage because its spread is too wide. I use only the chaingun in mobile turret mode just like the pop-up tip video suggests. I go to the highest platform to shoot his head, arms, and chest. I go to the ground and up close to him to shoot his lower abdomen. I go to the lower level to avoid his missiles above. Yes, it takes a while, but the whole routine is of *moronic simplicity*. Slash heavy, slash heavy, slash heavy, pick up 3 pips, chaingun boss for 10 sec, chainsaw weaky, chainsaw weaky, pick up fuel, repeat. You don't really have to adjust your action much. The final boss battle should've been a room full of marauders!

That depends on player and playstyle, since I would rather face 3 Marauders than Icon anytime. Marauder requires adapting and tactics, IoS is so much of a sensory overload that even with respawning resources it becomes hard not to falter for a moment... and that's when I die.

Final battle is extremely underwhelming. There is a spot in stage 2 which offers perfect protection from meteor strike ans with regen crucible so no effort at all needed
Sabaithal Jun 10, 2020 @ 12:50pm
Didn't die to final sin on my first run, but I was sweating profusely by the time I finished it. Mostly just because of my tendency to auto-target the lesser threats first. The fight lasted a while.

I die in that fight all the time, from boredom. I like pretty much everything about Doom Eternal. The Icon of Sin fight is tedious IMO.
