What's the point of the rune that makes glory kills faster?
You have I-frames through all the glory kills, right? I used the seconds in the glory kill tom mentally regroup and pick my next target. I don't see that rune as anytrhing but a huge disadvantage, unless you're speedrunning.

On that note, in what situations would I use the Unmakyr instead of the BFG, except maybe Icon of Sin? You can eat through an entire BFG ammo (30 Unmakyr shots) and barely stagger a cyber-mancubus or Archeville

Not gonna lie, I took that one because I was pretty tired of watching that animation when I just wanted to fight stuff.

The speed rune is most useful if you want to combo meathook-to-glorykill and still get armor.

Some glory kill animations are too long for the flame effect from the meathook to still be in effect by the end of the animation, so you don't get an armor drop.

You have I-frames, but if you didn't notice, enemies can move around you, meaning you will leave this pretty animation with a disdvantage. If you equip all top three runes you can quickly get in and get out, which helps alot if you low health on UN difficulty.
Unmaykr definately not as useful as BFG, because with BFG you can clean a full room, it's hard to find a good use for Unmaykr.

I've taken Savagery on all my playthroughs because giving the demons too much time to prepare an attack on you is dangerous. I don't use Glory Kills to plan my next move, I just use it to limit the time I'm locked in an animation. Most of the runes (imo) are barely useful so it's not really a hard decision to keep it.

Not sure what the point of the faster glory kills rune is either, but when fighting the Icon the BFG is better than the Unmakyr Imo as the BFG one-shots any part of him.

Well, people keep complaining that enemies hug you when you are in a glory kill animation, then attack the moment you get out of it (which usually isn't the case). So, take a perk that speeds up the glory kill so that doesn't happen.

That, or multiple enemies were just set up for glory kills in one group, and you'd like to get through all of them. Usually what I use it for.

It can be useful in hidden encounters, as the timer doesn't stop for the glory kill duration.

Faster glory kill is mostly useless. It'll help during secret encounters I guess, but that's about it. I personally think the better air control rune is the most useless though. You already have decent air control. There's only one platforming section I failed on multiple times, and even then, it's not that hard.

As for the Unmakyr, the only part in the whole game I got any good usage out of it was the secret encounter with the Marauder. When his eyes glow green, shot him with the SSG, then quickly swap to the Unmakyr and spam him with it. It's the easiest way to annihilate the Marauder in like, 5 seconds. Other than that, unless you're replaying levels with infinite ammo, the weapon is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Flaming SSG Hook, when you set an enemy on fire then glory kill them from long range using the hook, you don't get armour because it goes out by the time you kill him, fast glory kill allows you to kill them fast and get armour. Its a very specific nitpicky situation though and I wouldn't see much use for it only for secret encounters as the clock keeps ticking even during glory kills, but then again I avoid glory kills during those anyways.

I already mentioned that :D But I think you explained it better.

The Unmakyr is unfortunately quite pointless, except as a nod to Doom 64. I get that the developers probably didn't want to have three weapons sharing the same ammo type, but they could have gone back to their roots and made the Unmakyr have charges based on the number of enemies killed, similar to what Tom Hall described in the "Doom Bible."

While you are doing the glory kill, demons can move around, get in close, reposition etc. and whatnot all while you are stuck watching a neat little cutscene with a limited FoV.

Savagery basically makes Glory Kills fast enough that it would be little different than if you just blew them up with a Sticky Bomb or something. It definitely helps with the smoothness of combat and general knowledge of where demons might end up.

There are specific timed secret encounters that I really wanted to use that rune because I kept running out of time

Fair enough, but I'd almost always prefer the one that makes you go faster after the glory kill ends. I dash out of glory kills most of the time anyways.

Can see the point about meat hook and secret encounters, though. I guess it's less useless than the "slow down time once instead of dying" rune.
