Easiest way to kill the Marauder

I've tried a lot of various ways, some more effective than others, but this is the easiest way so far.

1) Ready the BFG.
2) Wait for him to get reasonably close.
3) Lob an ice bomb in a high arc over his head so it doesn't hit anything. He will turn his back to you for as long as the ice bomb is in the air.
4) Immediately shoot him in the ass with the BFG at near point blank range
5) Profit.

This will one-shot the Marauder, and it's great for that secret encounter on Taras Nabad.

I always just use 2 Rocket lock on bursts. You can hit him out of his axe attack just as easily with this as with the SSG. Just make sure to back out of the blast radius as you fire. And if you suck at weapon switching, like I do, this is way easier than the SSG/Ballista combo.

Took out that one secret encounter in Taras Nabad with 20 seconds to spare.

...so I guess the whole grenade thing isn't even necessary for rockets when they WILLINGLY drop their guard, is it?

I actually just tried the double lock on rocket with no grenades, and it works beautifully!

Idk, I just do the SSG > Bal > Frag Grenade > SSG > Bal combo

Every time I've tried the lock-on rockets he raises his shield.

I know all about the SSG/Ballista combo. That's my normal go-to. I just wanted to point out an incredibly easy way to kill this guy.

I looked carefully at the video, and noticed he started locking on the rockets BEFORE launching the cryo grenade. Apparently the timing is a ♥♥♥♥♥ though, so I thing I'm just going to try baiting him into melee, then hitting him.

I just sit there and play a boring carnival game with him. Eye light up, SSG. Rinse and repeat until he's dead.

i just ssg ballista swap and keep stun locking him with grenade concussion blast and kill him in 1 to 2 axe swings

It is possible to kill the marauder with the crucible, it even has a unique kill animation. Not the easiest thing to do though, he needs to be stunned by something like grenades first.

Why would you want to waste a valuable BFG shot on one of the easiest enemy types in the game?
