I don't understand where all of these"old school" fans get "gun play" from. That was never core to the franchise.
Just because you throw the '93 in there doesn't mean you know what you are talking about. There was no jumping in any of the classic Doom games because they didn't need them, it was about the shooting. You should really do some research or at the very least, think about what you write before you hit that "Post Comment" button there friend.
It was about confusing as hell mazes which luckily aren't here anymore.
also, I don't know if anyone else notices this, but there seems to be a LOT of World of Warcraft influence in the art design of this game (as well as a little Mario Galaxy). those could be sources of some of the environmental cartooniness.
(it's also possible that they have to be careful not to overdo it, or they'll end up with an A rating.)
First of all, I wanna say that more customization is always a good thing, so I would definitely like to see options of turning on/off "rainbow colors" and enemy tutorials. Being able to turn off extra-lives completely would also be a good thing. What's important, this alterations aren't hard to implement.
This is plainly incorrect. The only demon it can somewhat relate to is the aforementioned Cacodemon, as it's much more practical to grenade and than glory kill them asap. At least it's true before getting Balista which takes fast care of Cacodemons (With Arbalest mode it oneshots them). Other than that glory kills are used only to gain some hp back and I don't see how you HAVE to kill everything.
Also, glory kills highlights can be turned off, which makes it harder to understand when it's possible to do. Harder, but not impossible, as there are stagger animations.
This one's subjective to the core. Just want to say that IMO it's better to have this option, 'cause for me it's much better to replay levels for gameplay, not for secret hunting. Replaying solely for secret hunting was always a bit annoying for me. Also, fast travel is not needed to hunt for secrets enemy-free. I don't remember a single secret that I can't get after clearing area off all enemies.
About the "game's not hard" part I will somewhat agree. From what I've seen it's much easier to die in D:E when compared to the previous game, however, because of extra-lives it doesn't matter that much. Die, resurrect. Rince, repeat. Not saying it's necessary a bad thing, but being able to customize it would be nice without a doubt.
The game has a very intentional gameplay loop and meta. It definitely won't appeal to everyone. Fair enough of that front.
Doom 2016 was more tongue in cheek than this game. If anything, because of the story this game takes itself more seriously than 2016 did.
Hugo said they had to censor it for marketing.
Yet another thing that just says they market this game for kids imo. Sucks they had to mute their own artistic expression.
