Open campaign magnetic stabilizer problem
I wanted to make an underground base but the best part of the map is affected by an indestructible magnetic anomaly. Ashley says that building magnetic stabilizers would destroy it, but that building doesn't seem to be available in the open campaign.

It feels bad that I'm basically locked out of the area of the map with the best resources because I don't have the tools to clear the problem.

Am I missing an obvious solution?

As far as I know, you can't actually get rid of that anomaly. The dialog about potentially using magnetic stabalizers is just flavor-text, and at the end, they conclude with "that would take too much time and waste too many resources - let's just walk away from it".

The alternative is to find another location in the underground caverns using the orbital scanner.
That sucks. Why would the devs do that?
that underground anomaly is an event site
just skip to the next map and "just walk away"

The map generator contains a number of "special feature" locations that might pop up when rolling a new map in the orbital scanner interface. They were put in to add some flavor and a bit of incentive for what amounts to "exploring for exploration's sake." Whether a player decides to try setting up housekeeping on any map with such an event tile is of course up to them- some might enjoy the challenge, while for the others it's something unusual to break up monotony a bit.

Thankfully, the game set to only generate each of those special event locations a single time during a given campaign, so if you encounter one you just can't stand you can do as Spirit advised and just walk away-- you won't see it again in that campaign.
This was the only special feature I found so far that straight up denies a part of the map. And it felt so jarring to me. It seems I overreacted.
Since then I also found the factory on a morphium map that basically does the same thing (minus the radar jamming)
