Multi-monitor selection goes awry
I have 3 monitors in my setup.
For some reason the game wants to default to one particular monitor despite having set another (the primary monitor) in the config multiple times...

Does the same for me too, my primary disconnects from the system when the monitor is turned off but it is a much newer asus monitor, my secondary is a very old benq that is always connected and my tv mirrors my second monitor yet when that is turned off it too disconnects from the computers device list/nvidia monitor list and the game is always seeing the second monitor as the primary.

I launch the game via the config tool so i can set the correct monitor and resolution everytime, maybe if you find the config file you can configure it correctly then set it to read-only, i've had little luck in finding an actual cfg file or any other type of document that shows monitors.
It would be odd if this mattered, but my primary is a relatively new Asus TUF monitor, secondary is an older BenQ, tertiary (which it seems to prefer) is an UWHD LG which is over a decade old...

I also launch using the config tool, though sometimes I just stupidly hit 'launch' and only then notice it jumped.
The config file should be here for Windows:

Documents\The Riftbreaker\config\local.cfg

There's this line in it:
set monitor "\\.\DISPLAY1"

Could try setting it as read-only after changing it as Depleted suggested, hopefully that will work. I have dual monitors, one HDMI (primary), one DisplayPort, don't know if that makes any difference but I've never had an issue with the game not respecting the set monitor choice. There may possibly be issues if you're mixing displays that use HDMI / DisplayPort / DVI / VGA etc. One other thing, I never turn my monitors off, just let them go into standby mode when I'm not using them.

If the config file doesn't work, maybe this will help, never used it myself though:

Said a similiar thing in another thread, but - I'm guessing you (and the others guys in the thread) are on winblows?
I also run triplehead - three regular FullHD-displays plus bezel-correction, totaling a resolution of 5830x1080 - on Linux, and just set the game to use a Wine virtual desktop at that resolution (you can do pretty much the same thing with gamescope, though), and the game detects that as the singular display, at the resolution that I've set the wine virtual desktop/gamescope-window to, and "just works™" (I run the actual virtual-desktop-window in fullscreen spanned across all three physical displays). You could do the same but set the virtual-desktop-window to the resolution of only one display, and then move the (borderless) window to whichever of the physical displays that you want it on.
