Disabling steam inputs reasults in having the right layout BUT it will totally f*ck-up controls (D-pad not working as well as LT, X replaced by square etc)

Only talking about PS5 controller, since apparently there's no problem with PS4

To everyone seeing Xbox prompts for your PS controller:

Turn off Playstation Controller support for Steam. Right click the game in your library, click properties, click controller, click the underlined "controller general settings" link. Turn off Playstation configuration support.

It's dumb, but it worked for me.

Just tested and after doing it now it does have playstation command prompts but all the controls are wasted.
I'm playing with a dualsense controller and everything is messed up.
L2 is start, ❏ is X, camera controls glitch out and it gets impossible to recover it.
Another game released with terrible dualsense support.

Could anyone make a .pak file override mod that makes the game always display the PS icons?

This game has broken DualShock/DualSense support. First and foremost, to even get the PS4 Icons, you have to disable Steam's Controller Support and not use any third-party software like DS4Windows, but even then you get told to press X but actually you have to press O, which is weird...

This is an Unreal Engine 4 Game. It shouldn't be too hard to either implement proper support to detect the DualShock/DualSense with Steam's Controller API or to even allow us to manually switch the UI Icons.

Otherwise, someone might be able to figure out if and where the game might read additional PAK files from and create a small "patch" pak, which overrides the Xbox Button Prompts with PS4/PS5 Button Prompts.

I have a slightly weird issue that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet. I turned off steam support for Play Station controllers as people have suggested and when I do for some reason my L@ and R2 buttons simply stop working. They work fine when support is on, but as we know this leads to xbox prompts. I even tried the mod linked here in the previous posts and that worked just once. After I restarted the game the L2 and R2 buttons are back to not working no matter what I do or try.

That's what we are saying, you can either go with xbox prompts or deactivate steam support but some buttons will stop functioning

wired ds4 with all the steam controller things turned off will get you ps4 prompts.
wired dualsense with all the steam things turned off will get you broken controller config that is bugged.
wireless with ds4/dualsense with steam controller config turned off will get you nothing at all.
wireless with steam controller config turned on gets you xbox prompts.

it's like this for a ton of games.
if devs would just put a manual switch in the options for input prompts it would fix this stupid mess.

Turn off steam input. 0 issues on DS4. The new PS5 controllers seem to have issues.

If you got any issues uninstall the drivers via control panel and restart

It has PlayStation prompts. In fact, I'm using an Xbox controller and the game cannot make up its mind and shows me PlayStation prompts if I pull either trigger.

go into big picture mode, controller options unselect everything and bingo bango you have ps4 prompts
