Is the game worth getting without the dlc?
Title says it all.

If the core game play is fun to you, then absolutely the base game is worth it alone. I'm over 6 hours in and haven't anywhere near completed the base content. In fact I just unlocked all the levels. And there are several fairly challenging goals per level, plus a number of characters and familiars to unlock. I will likely grab the DLC at this point, too (it really is that good).

So, you can always refund within 2 hours/2 weeks, so why not give it a try?

Absolutely. If you like rhythm games and weeb ♥♥♥♥ it is fantastic. Gameplay is pretty basic but it certainly ramps up to an insane challenge at some tiers/songs. I'm about 6 hours in as well and haven't unlocked all the free stuff yet. Got two albums (I guess) worth of music so far and have done most of the easy/hard tiers and some master tiers. It is kinda similar to Bit Trip Runner in a way. Which is a good thing. The 2-3 bux they are asking for is a STEAL. Get it.

I just got it off the sale. It's a really fun game, except that the devs are greedy and are locking the full game behind a pay wall. You are paying for a demo basically. I like the gameplay and the songs, but the pay wall stuff puts me off. I'd rather play Osu, which is free and has more content than this.

This is more of what I was assuming would be the case. (I do play Osu though)

The weeb ♥♥♥♥ is a big attraction to me not gon lie. I'll give it a try though.

Thanks. Was about to get this game, but now I won't - not only devs are selling a demo version, but the DLC is absolutely unaffordable with salaries of my region.

I hate when developers can't be honest about what they are actually selling and coming to tricks like this.

The game is absolutely worth it without the DLC and I don't know where Nepugia is getting this "Demo" idea from. You get all of the mechanics, characters, items, partners and 41 songs with the base version (though most of it needs to be unlocked by playing and leveling up, which really doesn't take very long). Considering how fun the game is, that's absolutely fantastic value for $3.00 and other than the DLC songs not being selectable unless you buy them the game never once bothers you to purchase the DLC, and they're even off in their own tabs so the locked songs aren't in your face the whole time.

I'm a big rhythm game fan and I've honestly never seen this much value from a game in this genre for this price before. $30 DLC is the norm, but you can expect to purchase a base rhythm game for $60-$80 anywhere else. Anyone who goes into this thinking it's just a demo and judges it as such either hasn't actually played the game or just doesn't know what they're talking about.

In what world is $3 for over 40 tracks, all elfin, & all characters unlocks a demo? The DLC is all the songs that were added after release of the base game on mobile in a package. Just because we have a choice to only buy the base game separate from the dlc unlike the switch release, doesn't mean it's "basically a demo". You get the full experience without the DLC and it's just 3 bucks if you didn't like what you played but if you did the DLC is there to add more. Don't go misinforming people.

So much misinformation in this post. The base game is most definitely NOT a demo. You get over 40+ songs, all characters, all unlocks and the FULL game. That is a ridiculously good deal for $3. The reason the DLC is so expensive is because it bundled ALL previously released DLC into one pack AND they added a "season pass" type pack to it so you get future music packs included in it as well. These devs are the very opposite of greedy and it completely amazes me people can be so entitled as to have opinions like this.

Agreed. That user played for 12 minutes (literally), and then proceeded to write a negative review. For a $3 game they claimed is 'really fun'.

As an past osu player (standard and 5* 4K mania), this game is really interesting and you should take a look. The game itself is worth, but I've bought the dlc pack anyway, since you'll probably need more out of it if you are really into rhythm games.
The base game isn't a demo. It's a full game. Consider the DLC as extra stuff if you crave for more. That's it.
Like some said before, you need to play in order to level up. When you level up, you unlock songs to play. It doesn't take that much time to unlock every song. I've played for 3h+ and already unlocked every base song, as I played a lot of DLC tracks in Hard 5 stars to Master 10stars. You get approx 1 level each time you play a song for the first time.

And by the way, the DLC pack is worth the purchase too just for artists like Ginkiha, Haloweak and others. I just miss some Camellia and I'm good to go.

just enjoy your game, once you unlock all song you'll decide if its worth buying or not
Frostmire Jun 26, 2019 @ 6:45pm
if it helps , the base game is dirt cheap and you can unlock all characters
