After a journey of almost 3.5 years, we're proud to finally be releasing the full access to Crew 167: The Grand Block Odyssey.

The release will include a brand new chapter to conclude the story that was accessible on Early Access. Investigate and unveil what is really happening with Crew 167, starting this April 8.

Crew 167 is the story of same-named character who finds himself isolated in the midst of an interstellar journey. His home planet, Source, is severely suffering from climate change and a backup plan is essential for his home planet’s survival. However, after traveling for over a century, the implant in his head has begun to show signs of malfunction and is starting to affect his mental health.

When we're all alone, we play games in our mind.

Crew 167 will be leaving Early access sometime in April. We will be announcing the official release date on March 25th. This post will go on our experience so far and an upcoming pricing update.

When we develop games as indie, we don't usually have enough feedback on what we work on. The amount of eyes on the project is limited and our point of view is biased towards what we're working on.

Early access has really opened up the gates and let more people play the game, share their feedback and allow us to fix issues. In the biggest of issues we've seen was corrupted save games, or save games that allowed the player to go to places that shouldn't be accessible. We hope to have fixed all these issues by launch date.

We also tweaked some puzzles to adjust the difficulty curve: when we see how people try to solve a specific puzzle, we can read how people approach them. Our philosophy on Crew 167 has always been to design satisfying puzzles. When we're as closely as possible to the way the mind works, these puzzles tend to be more satisfying.

Another reason to go on Early Access was to make sure our game was a great experience. The feedback we've received kept us motivated and confirmed that we were on the right track to delivering something true and unique.

We've always been transparent in the Early Access before any price changes. The price of the Early Access always reflected the amount of content that was available to play. The Final Release will include the third and final chapter of the game. For this reason, we will be increasing the price one last time to 18 USD (or its equivalent in your currency) on Friday, March 21st 2020.

Note that you can still buy the game in Early Access today and get the Full Release update automatically when it's out. Buying the game now is essentially getting a 33% discount.

In January, we had 4 recording sessions with 2 voice actor to bring additional life to the characters of the game. All cutscenes will now include voices for Crew 167 and the Sad Machine character.

Bringing the first translations to a game always takes me time, because the framework required to allow the switching of languages requires some effort to implement. The game has so far been translated to French. More languages to come in the future. If you want to help bringing the game to your language, please let us know in the Discord.

The Puzzle Maker has been removed from the latest build. There was a few issues with the current version of it. To make sure we have the best single-player experience, we preferred to focus all our effort on the main story. We felt like the puzzle-maker didn't reach out quality standard at the moment.

We're excited to announce that Chapter 2 is now available to play. If you already own the game, no new purchase is required: you only need to download the latest patch.

You can read below about the new features being added with the release of Chapter 2, as well as the upcoming price increase.

The second chapter takes place in the beautiful forest of Hope 9. After reaching the destination, Crew 167 will be busy solving 30 new puzzles in a different environment and discovering 3 new puzzle mechanics.

Chapter 1 has also received a few updates to include more Codex entries on the Hope 9 mission and about Crew 167 himself. Achievements have been added for Chapter 1 and 2.

• The total number of puzzles is now 59.
  
• The total number of block-mechanics is now 5.
  
• The estimated amount of Playtime is now 4 hours.

If you have an existing save game at the end of Chapter 1, you will be able to continue directly into Chapter 2. However, you will see enough new content in Chapter 1 to justify replaying the game from the beginning.

Since the game released in early access, it had a low initial price to reflect the amount of content available at the time. With the release of each new chapter, the price will also increase to reflect the addition of new content, until the game leaves early access.

• In one week from this announcement, on January 3rd, the price will increase to 12 USD.
  
• If you purchased the first Chapter of the game, you automatically get the content updates through regular Steam updates. No need to purchase anything else.
  
• There will be a transition period where both Chapter 1 and 2 are available at the base price of 6 USD. Get it now while it's discounted!

Hi everyone!

We just wanted to drop an update, since the last one was done a little while ago, but there was a few delays on a few specific aspects.

Chapter 2 is underway. Most of the content is finished, however some additional polishing is required to make sure the experience matches what you've played in Chapter 1. We were hoping to release everything this week, however this will not be possible.

Here's so basic stats about the upcoming content release:

• 30 new puzzles with 3 new mechanics
  
• 9 new cinematics and story points
  
• Additional codexes to give even more background about the character and his story.

Additionally, there will be some cutscene modification to the first chapter, including a new cutscene. More codex and journal entries will be added and spread between the puzzles.

• While replaying Chapter 1 is not fully necessary to understand the story, we believe there will be enough changes to warrant replaying it.
  
• Usually replaying would be faster than the first time around, because solutions to puzzles will come much faster.
  
• Your existing saves if you completed chapter 1 will resume at beginning of Chapter 2 flawlessly.

To prevent having to redo the story once the final game is released, and since we're already suggesting to replay Chapter 1, we'll be releasing achievements for Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 at the same time.

• Adding achievement will add a bit of delay to the release of Chapter 2, but this would be the best timing to work on it.

Some playtesting has been done with the puzzle maker, and a few improvement were raised as part of that exercise. Furthermore, your feedback in Discord and Steam Community have been heard and we'll try to include as many as possible.

• However, to prevent delaying the progress of Chapter 2, it's possible that the Puzzle-Making improvement make their way to Steam a few weeks later than Chapter 2.
  
• When the puzzle-maker update is released, it will include the 3 new mechanics added from the Chapter 2.

A new Build of the game is now available!

This newest update brings the Colored Blocks to the Puzzle Maker. Each color must be brought to their appropriated colored-switch to activate. However, the Yellow-blocks can activate any switches.

Go try the new mechanic and get creative at creating your own puzzles!

I wanted to send an update about the development of the game. Ideally, we would ship new content every 2 weeks, to make sure that there's always something new to check out for the people that bought the game.

This week, we sadly missed the 2-week deadline, but are very close to releasing the next big update: A puzzle-maker which we will call: The Crew Maker 167.

This is a preview of the quick iteration that can be done to put down puzzle pieces, switch and play to test out the flow of the puzzle. This tool is actually something that I will use to design future puzzle for the final chapter, because the design flow is very good.

This next one is a puzzle I designed using the tool itself.
I can't wait to iron out the latest details to make sure the experience is ready for everyone. There will be another announcement when the Crew Maker 167 is ready.
