I have completed the game now on all difficulties and got the Mulder. Yet i have not yet been poisoned by a snake and never had any use for antidote. What am i missing? Where are the snakes?

No matter what I do (either pressing X on the keyboard, or pressing A on the controller) always the left player shoots...
