After you pop the hood, for most cars/trucks, you should be able to move forward (either from the side or from the front - just try moving forward from there), and that will actually place you directly above the engine at a much better angle to see it.
Under the seats is a pain if the vehicle has no rear seats - otherwise look from the back.
If anyone has any ideas how to find those spots that are supposedly under the damn dashboard, in cars where I'm sure I've looked at the dash from every angle I could, that would be awesome.
I can find it if it's in one of those two places, but sometimes it's not. Either that or there isn't an angle that can let me see under the steering wheel to where the contraband is in some vehicles that only have front seats?
I have had sucess with standing outside the vehicle and crouching. This gives a great under-carrriage view of the dashboard, and also under seats a little, especially if they stick out besides. Also keep in mind they can hide in between car seats too (sorry if you already knew that).
