2021 and this game still limits its own potential...
Disable fast travel, really? Why do I have to run around over and over again because this game wants me to feel the artificial "length" it has? If I don't remember wrong in ToV it just disable the fast travel point at the location it doesn't want you to travel to. This ♥♥♥♥ makes you run entire map to get to it.

And the 15 item limit, you thought it was for balancing reason? Nope you can pay $$$ to unlock the 99 slots for it right away. Balancing this ♥♥♥♥ when you have $$$ you can tell balancing to ♥♥♥♥ off. It discourages exploring when you have a full inventory why the ♥♥♥♥ do I have to run around when I can't collect more item?

And the nerve to sell 100.000 gald and level + for money lol, no thanks I'll be using a trainer to give you these nutz for that.

That's pretty much how Tales has always been hasn't it? lol I admit the micro-transactions are a bit more aggressive and game-breaking in this one. The difficulty was a bit jacked in towards the beginning of the game to encourage micro-transactions like boosting 10 levels or more and up to 400,000 gald with DLC Artes linked to costumes. However like I said, that's Tales of for you. lol

I got one shot by the first boss of the game and I wondered why then I remember the DLC that lets you have more SP, level, money... and that's why.

I don't mind them selling the level and gald since that can be fixed by using a trainer, but the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ fake difficulty at the beginning is just bad.

git gud
The 15 item cap has always been a Tales thing. You just usually unlocked it on new game plus.

Agree on the fast travel.

thank you my friend. i was about to pull the trigger, but i see the only neg reviews are because 16 nodes unavailable to each character unless you buy the dlc, plus ive heard they advertise the currency everywhere with "!" and now i read low item count and balancing will cost real money? long. pointless traveling? smh dang...probably still going to take a close look but i am getting pretty fed up.

It's honestly pretty weird to see somebody who has played previous Tales games complaining about this, apparently unaware that Bandai Namco has been monetizing Tales games like this since Vesperia.

I actually think this game should have less fast travel; some of these do not make sense(for example fast traveling from ship). Usually when this game disables fast travel, you're going to get to a cutscene as soon as you exit the area(or close enough).

Fast Travel is actually pretty bad for gameplay and design(because people use fast travel, developers are less incentivized in filling the game world with...stuff; and because developers don't fill the game world with enough stuff, people feel justified in spamming fast travel, rinse and repeat.)

Also yes, give them the CREAM.

I was admittedly a little nonplussed when they introduced fast travel, only to (temporarily) disable it a short while later in the early game. I was "what?" I get it - story atmosphere or whatever game reasons, still it's a bit jarring initially. I assume it'll happen again. Not that big of a deal to me tho.

I was more irritated with the 15 item limit (I have not played other Tales games, didn't know it was the "normal"). Not so much because I wanted a max of 99 specifically, but it feels so low considering it's partially a game of picking up stuff Could've made it 25 or 30 at least, imo. Although, again, I get it, more than 15 during battles might feel unbalanced to some/depending on difficulty etc.

Most of the DLC stuff doesn't bother me since most of it I don't care about/won't buy. But I did end up getting the one that increases item limit and only downloaded/installed that one aspect (not the gold or boosts or other things). Might get the Title costumes for everyone eventually too. Not sure. Depends how much I continue to like the game/play.

they're very aggressive with the DLC ads, everytime I go into the menu there's a "NEWS" word in the corner suggesting I have new costumes, turns out it's the DLC costumes they're advertising.

I found a trainer that let you have 99 consumables at a time, I was getting mad that I couldn't pick up more apple gel after having 15 of it. I felt like a waste exploring and leaving a free item on the map.

bruh fast travel is disabled for just a few minutes for story reasons like 3 times...

15 items has been a thing in Tales of games forever to avoid I AM IMMORTAL!!!! Final Fantasy XV syndrome.

The first boss does not 1-shot you, even on hard difficulty, and is hilariously easy. Perhaps you are thinking of the gigantic zeugel bug on the way to the first village? That is basically a mid to late game mini-boss that you are supposed to return for later on. The DLC will not help you normally beat it, unless you just buy alllllll of it and tons of levels so you can jump to like level 45.

It sounds like you are struggling more due to a lack of skill and strategy so you should probably lower the difficulty until you get better at the game.

In addition, until like two dozen hours in you wont even be able to buy enough consumable items to really even utilize more than 15 at a time because of money limitations.

Yes, the 100,000 gald is excessive for a while in the game due to money limitations. It surely isn't needed but it can help less capable players, but those people should be on an easier difficulty to begin with and not hard. You can opt to not use the DLC, too... This has nothing to do with the game, itself, but with their DLC which is opt in only.

The fast travel restrictions are rare and for story purposes. It makes no sense to be able to escape somewhere you are being hunted by soldiers in... Your complaint here is invalid. Past Tales of games haven't even had fast travel ya know? Fast travel isn't always ideal to freely allow, either, in games.

The DLC news is a tiny bit of scrolling text when you are briefly in the camp menu. Ignore it.

Just equip an accesory to reduce fire damage, also learn the boss attack pattern since his attack is really telegraphed. Still can't beat it? Lower the difficulty, problem solved. Just because it's hard doesn't mean you have to buy booster
Also 15 item limit is always a staple in tales of game, except here you can't increase it in ng+
