Tales games usually don't go full-weaboo mode. Just the artstyle is slightly more anime, and there are definitely anime stereotypes. But at least it doesn't feel too cringey or forced overall

In the case of this game, its much less ''anime'' in its writing or story (heh, even with the second half) then most other jrpgs and especially Tales of.

Is it fun? Hell yeah. Fun action gameplay, with one hell of a story and a nice cast of characters.

I recommend this game to anyone that enjoys action rpgs, would be willing to try one, or just loves a good story.

Maybe I don't know what full weaboo mode means, but I'd say the Tales of series is very strongly tied to anime. It doesn't go slapstick style or anything, but it's always been there. Tales of Arise may be the least weabey(?) because the the skits are done with the in-game graphics engine rather than anime drawings leaving only a select number of cutscenes and art to directly look like anime/manga. Tales of Arise's graphics finds a balance between cel-shading and realism in the environment that gives the game an overall great look, but also still has anime style written all over it. I also don't find the characters fitting into archetypes from that space, or too strongly in Japanese culture as well -- but for those in the know, there are definitely character behaviors-interactions that are rooted in more Japanese culture.

What. This is one of the most anime games ever. That's not a bad thing but if someone doesn't like anime they most likely won't like this.

No, this game is not for otaku.
There is no moe in it, no ecchi fanservice or giant humanoid robots. A perfectly normal game for normies.
