Rinwell arts problem ...
Am I the only one thinking that she doesn't have enough spells ?
I mean I would get why shionne only get a handful. She's half healer. But the fact that rinwell, the pure damage mage, only get like 10 Artes and 3 real duo Artes combo is disappointing to me ... I'm only chapter 4 so maybe it gets better. But comparing it to the mages I loves in the tales of series ... It's bad ... Genis had something like 30 spells.

10 artes is too few but she does start with a handful have you properly ground her arte affinities (water, wind and light) to 9999? It should give you all of her spells

Technically the mages in the party are Dohalim (mixed set he also doubles as a secondary healer), Shionne (think Pascal from Tales of Code Geass whith a bit of Cheria's arsenal mixed in), Rinwell (pure mage)

Well 3000 on each and 5000 water
But not taking melee arts
She only gets 8 arts without combos
And 10 with combos
I got 7 Artes and I'm missing the cross strike
So it's only 8 spells for a true damage mage ... Seriously disappointing

The only thing I think that gives her a "wider arsenal" of spells is that she can combine 2 spells by steal from from monsters with her boost attack if her arte affinity is that high

I stopped maining Rinwell due to having to macro her abilities is more pain

True but it's just 2 spells launches back to back, which isn't that great.
Always played mages in tales, but this one clearly doesn't feel great
I can't be spellcasting for a long time before getting an eruption or indignation, meteor storm, prismatic sword, you know, the good ol tier 3 spells

Plus i feel like this game is missing a lot of things from previous tales of that were good, it got a ton of good points, i mean, have you looked at the graphics comparing other tales of ? Oof
But most of the "gameplay" is gone ... equipments are only + stats, no elemental weakness/ressistance, so fights are only a "Well i'll equip the best stat equipments", arts, ARTS, lots of them are gone, too much for a mage main :c
Game's good, but i could've been so much more :/

A big problem is how most of her spells don't track the enemy.

So if anyone in your party pushes the enemy after you cast the spell, its worthless.

Only the spells that actually track like Air Thrust are worth casting.

So only like 2-3 spells are actually viable, not very well thought out.

She's a short range semi melee mage, so forget about having her always at the back spaming spells if you want her at her full potential, i'm maining her and she's not even near to be short on attacks.

Tales of Code Geass :'). Correct name for that one indeed.

It's not just two casts back to back, she can combine artes to make new ones, there are particular room wides ones that annihilate everything, including ones stolen from enemies. She was the sole reason I was able to defeat Great Dragon on the Traslida Highway the first time I entered it. I was not ready for that fight but I had her steal his casts and bombard him with charged ice and wind combo spells. Everyone was dead meanwhile I ran around charging artes and dodging the dragon. It was a tough fight

I didnt have much issue with her spells honestly, she still wrecks things even if she doesnt hit their weakness (if you control her that is anyways)

I mained her for the game, and i was able to take down bosses 15-20 levels higher than me with her, while using the others for crowd control.

Spoilers - She does learn a fire spell from a quest, im not sure if she learns anything else out of her spell tree due to quests or other methods

That arte she learns outside of her "skill tree" also opens a path for her to start learning spells of that element, so it's not just that that she learns

I never used it much as of yet since im used to using her other spells to clear the field. I never mixed them cause it slows me down lol.

Well, if you use it you will get another "map clearing " spell, so i'd really recommend using it at least a few times

my current Rinwell has 12 arts and thats probably not counting what she can mix with some stolen magic

Spread->Freeze Lancer/Arrow Squall->Tidal Wave
Air Thrust->Gust Wave/Dusty Nail->Cyclone
Thunder Blade->Holy Lance->Divine Saber
Burning Strike->Flare Tornado

I'm assuming she also has access to Explosion like any self-respecting magician should even if it means draining her entire AG pool and passing out

Tales always have terrible gameplay for casters.

The only exception is probably Cheria from Graces f. The other mages in the series are just weak and/or not fun to play as.
