How do i even get out of this room?!
Perfect schematic for a new player tutorial: Lock them into a closed room, and tell them first thing, straight off the bat to go somewhere, with not even a HINT of how to even get out of the damn room......
Then continue to have them spend 20 minutes in that tight space, looking at everything and still cannot figure out what the hell they're supposed to be doing.

Spoiler: That's not how you do tutorials.

Edit- For all you people who seem to need to brush up on your investigation skills, not finding the keypad was not the problem. The keypad just didn't DO anything, so it appeared to just be a wall decor, nearest i could reasonably assume.

There’s a keypad next to the door. Press M1 on it.

Too hard apparently, bad tutorial

Lol. Most guys I know have skipped the tutorial and start learning by doing. And that works really fast...

Nice, so let's come into the forum and criticize people who show that the tutorial doesn't do it's job.

There is NOTHING pointing towards that. Period. No hints, no visual ques, nothing.

So if i have to come onto the forum and ask how to even begin trekking into a TUTORIAL, there's an inherent problem with the tutorial.

It's not about "hard", it's about a tutorial not actually being a tutorial.

The tutorial isn't inherently bad because you had a brain fart with doors. So many people complain about the lack of polish in this game and the tutorial specifically, which is fair to an extent, but it was still an extremely easy experience to figure out with a little patience and observation. You'll have to forgive me for finding it humorous that one of the complaints happens to be somebody who could not door correctly. I mean come on, that's funny.

Oh gawd, the horror of unfinished games that are in development and early access on steam!~

And what does an Early access title thrive from?

People posting on the forum saying what's good, bad and what should be changed, no?

The tutorial is broken, and doesn't serve it's purpose.

are... are you serious? you couldnt find out how to leave the trailer? YOU SPENT 20 MINUTES WALKING AROUND IN THAT SMALL A SPACE NOT NOTICING THE KEYPAD OR JUST GOOGLING IT AFTER 5 MINUTES?

i genuinely cant tell if you are trolling, i had my little sibling play the tutorial just for laughs and watch them get creeped out without getting hunted and they knew how to open the door.

Early access can contain any build of a game. Your feedback is a rant Its not proper feedback, nor proper constructive criticism.

What you're directing towards is just beta. This is an alpha.....

"Hey, You guys should put up promps or popups as to what to do in the tutorial".

The tutorial it self works fine. It doesnt really take anyone more then 10 minutes to start with.

vs "I am fckn stuck in a room and cant get out" "I have fallen and cant get up ".

"Then continue to have them spend 20 minutes in that tight space, looking at everything and still cannot figure out what the hell they're supposed to be doing."

You obviously do not read journal very well.

What room where you in anyway? If you where in the van you obviously didnt press the keypad to open the van door... lol

Dont' know, was in whatever the training room drops you in. And I did press things on the keypad and got no feedback from it, like i said, so i reasonably assumed that wasn't what you were supposed to do.

Doesn't matter anyway, refunded the game, as i've no interest in a troll-infested community.

No Serious, there are usually two type of player these day. One who cannot play game without a completely step by step guide book. Two, a player who never need a guide to play a game.

If you grow up playing game by yourself without the need of a guide/walkthrough book, sure you gonna be a quick wit and smart person when trying new things. figure things out fast by yourself.
I do have a friend that is up to the level of cannot start playing new game without reading/purchase a guidebook or watch other play first. he grow up as a rarely make a mistake person, but unreliable and bad on improvise things.

I agree with you, and I'm part of that second. I don't play games using guides or walkthroughs, that spoils the game for me. I grew up without them, and appreciate the old days without the hand holding, but this isn't thatt.

This is a tutorial. A tutorial is meant to teach you how to play a game, and if for whatever reason someone is unable to even begin into the tutorial, then something should be adjusted.

I'm fine with figuring things out, but this is a scenario where I tried what people suggested before even posting on here, and it didn't work. It didn't work because for whatever reason i didn't do explicitly what is required. Something that is required without giving any direction towards those requirements.

If you put 100 people into that room, everyone is going to think differently, take different approaches, and they may not try the same thing specifically twice, particularly when they're trying to figure out something like this. "I messed with the keypad, it hasn't done anything, so maybe i should be looking elsewhere". Is a perfectly normal thought process.

That's not "being stupid", as people so elequantly have put it, nor is it needing hand holding. It's simply put, circumstance.

Also, i'm wondering how many of the people posting in here actually play it in VR, or flatscreen, because the two are probably different.

Nah sorry, its really easy to get out of the van. My 12 years old brother only plays Mario Kart and Pokémon, he don't play on computer. But he was able to finish the tutorial. Sorry, after 20 minutes in the van and don't find a way to go out. Yeah, that's in fact a brain fart.
