What's the point of the house key?
It seems like a useless part of the game to me. If you and your squad forget the key then it just wastes a few seconds of your time for no reason. If it was removed, then nothing much would change other than the few seconds saved if it is forgotten.

Well I mean it makes it a lil more realistic altho it makes it realistic and unrealistic. Because how do you just find a random house key in the middle of china or aisa its of course in the house or in the car. so yeah but you would need a key to unlock it in real life so yeah realistic and non-realistic.

The most significant purpose of the house key is that the ghost locks the door every time it hunts. No key, No unlocking the door.

From a gameplay mechanics perspective, a locked door is just plain locked; There's not an inside or outside to the door, there's not a keyhole on one side and a turnable knob on the other.

Could it be done some other way? Maybe. But, really, it's just a key, it's not hard to remember, and it's fitting since you're entering a locked up building.

imagine you lost a few seconds outside of that house without losing sanity xD

Then dont forget that key, what does it all matter
If one forget it, then maybe the other takes it, if all forget then it's just a stupid mistake xD

thats the fun of it
getting the key is the most basic part and still I sometimes find me and my 3 freinds all infront of the door and no one got the key and we laugh our asses off

In the early state of the game there were also keys for garage or basement to find in the house. Remember the keys in the green bowls? But DK removed them as they worked against the gampelay he wanted. The house and car key still remain. I am fine with it, as it gives the game a more authentic touch.

It's pointless and could have been removed but it's also fairly harmless since it's just the one key.

I did have an awkward session when the campsite was first added where one guy kept getting to the cabin first and opening it. Then like 3 campsite games later, he left, we go to the cabin and nobody realized it required a key since he didn't say anything about it so we were confused as heck for awhile until I accidentally noticed it under the mat.

It's harmless when you know where the keys are but it would be an annoyance if every map had multiple keys that needed to be found just to proceed. I think, overall, they could be either removed or restricted to Nightmare difficulty. They don't really add anything useful or interesting to the gameplay.

Was you playing in VR, because there is a big bug that has been around since release.
If you hold the locked door handle while sprinting towards the door you will just pass straight through it.
With 30 seconds practice you can walk through locked doors as if they are not there.
It makes getting money and XP easy because you can set a small map on nightmare go into locked building collect the bone and cursed object and leave for a quick $120, or you can take camcorder in and look for orbs to find ghost room (or use cursed mirror) then you can put salt down and smudge to complete most challenges even discover the ghost type all with complete safety.

It's because ghost activity doesn't start until the door is unlocked and opened.
