Thats less than ideal.
So, is there a point to playing this at all? Are the devs just going to wipe my progress again? I had over 200 hours of time in. Picking up items and getting money for nothing I guess.

With this in mind, everyone was Prestige'd with the update, starting you over with the new progression, since what you had before doesn't translate to what it is now.
You can play for a bit, learn how the new equipment and evidence works, and get the best equipment.. and if you don't like the idea of resetting over and over for higher Prestige, just stay in your current Prestige and keep your best equipment.
past the 20 hour mark you already played for nothing back then, so what is different now?
And no, things won't reset again. They just made it this time, since they've added the long awaited progression system, which wasn't compatible with the old item system. Things like this happen in EA titles.
it's a pretty bad system that fortunately doesn't hurt the game too much right now, but money is actually completely pointless right now. At level 62 I am sitting on 50k extra.
a full solo loadout rebuy is only $1500. I could rebuy this therefore 35 times before I ran out of money. If we're talking multiplayer with shared loadouts or even better, one guy provides everything and the other players actually take the risky objectives, it gets even worse.
money means nothing.
It means nothing to us good players, but we're just a minority, which the game isn't balanced around. From their stats prior to the update they've calculated with the average player dying around 50 times until lvl 100 and barely being able to buy all upgrades.
Also if they die every other game and still can buy all the upgrades, money doesn't mean anything to them either. They just have less of it.
