Fix the crucifix and the ghost event first!
We just had a game on Professional in Edgefield Street House. The ghost was a Mare and it was in the Living room. 1 Crucifix in the middle of the room and the other at the entrance to the room. It still entered hunting phase and strangled my friend in front of us. We both took pictures of the ghost and still didn't get the "Witness a ghost event" objective. He spawned right at the entrance of the room on top of the Crucifix.

I have never seen or heard of a ghost spawning a hunt right on top of a crucifix (unless it was out of charges and disappeared), so don't know what to say there. I do know that "ghost event" generally refers to the "big breath" in the ear. Watching your friend die will not fulfill the objective.

A hunt is not a ghost event (although arguably it should be if you manage to actually see the ghost). Whether however this actually is a bug that needs to be fixed hasn't been explained.

as for the crucifix, the Edgefield living room is really big. If you put the crucifix right down in the middle, you probably will not cover the corners of the room.

Especially since in this case the Mare would only be rolling against a 3m range of the Crucifix where as a Banshee would only be rolling against a 6m range of the Crucifix.

It's 5m for banshees.

Ghost spawning on top of the crucifix doesn't mean that there is a bug. Putting a crucifix down isn't a guaranteed safety from hunt. It's best to listen out for the ghost's foot steps and keep throwing the crucifixes to where the ghost is currently standing.

Ghost event is when the ghost shows himself (as a shadow, physical appearence, white smoke. This usually comes with it breathing loudly into your ear) sometimes when this happens the door to it's room will shut all the way.

We had a Crucifix in the middle of the living room and one right at the entrance and the ghost appared right at the entrance on top of the crucifix. We chechked both after the hunt and they were still there.

Crucifixes only disappear after preventing 2 hunts. Just because you have 2 crucifixes placed doesn't mean the room was 100% covered. If a hunt even starts with crucifixes in a room, then it's proof you have failed or the room was too large.

When the ghost goes into hunting mode, it will manifest (either with his physical form or invisible with a visible shadow) and start walking. If you see it walking over a crucifix while it's hunting, it simply means he started the hunt phase OUTSIDE the crucifix radius. Which isn't uncommon, since the range is only 3 meters.

Ghost events for the optional objective occur as part of random ghost interactions.

Ghosts have a 10-in-15 chance (which changes to 10-in-13 on higher difficulties) to enter a randomEvent phase

After all these checks, it can either:
- appear to the player, and create a Ghost Appeared (Level 4) EMF Spot
- turn off light switches
- slam doors shut, and create a Ghost Appeared (Level 4) EMF Spot

It's best to toss 2 Crucifix's.
Never use just one unless it's a small area.

In big rooms i like to place the crucifixes in a way that forces the ghost to spawn all the way inside its room so the exit and entrance areas are clear.
Makes it easier to powerwalk away from everything but the revenant although you might get lucky with breaking the LOS and hiding in the nearest room.

I do agree that its way too difficult to get a ghost event as opposed to a hunt for some reason.

I heard smudge sticks block hunts for 90 seconds, longer for a spirit, and increase overall activity which should aid in provoking a ghost event.

Cucifixes won't "force" the ghost to spawn in the back of the room. Ghost attempt to start hunts at random times. It won't go to were there is no crucifix to start a hunt, it roams around completely randomly and if it will be standing in the 3 meter radius of a crucifix while trying to hunt, the hunt will get canceled. What you heard about smudge sticks is true. For a spirit it's 3 minutes of safety.

Yesterday had a professional game where the bathroom was a ghost room - we tossed two crucifixes inside it as we also needed the "prevent a ghost from hunting"-objective. The objective wasn't completed and the ghost hunted us starting from inside the bathroom anyways. Something is bugged with crucifixes currently...

Nothing is bugged about crucifixes and never was. No matter how small the room is the ghost can walk like 20 or 30 meters away from that room and start a hunt if you are unlucky. No matter where the ghost is when it starts the hunt it will always teleport back to it's room so that it's more fair and that's why it seems that it completely ignores the crucifix.

That is completely incorrect.

I've had situations where I heard the ghost footsteps somewhere out in the corridor and the hunt started and suddenly the ghost was in its room with me. So idk what to think about that. It seems like it teleports back when starting a hunt.
