Demons are extremely aggressive on PRO. Easy to identify

Just had my first Demon on Professional. He literally attacked 3 times in a row with a FIVE second break between them. Literally, the first hunt lasted around 1 and a half minute, then five seconds passed, he started ANOTHER hunt that lasted even more, almost 2 minutes. Then, around 10 seconds passed and he started yet ANOTHER hunt right off the bat, lasting around 2 minutes again. It was kinda annoying and terrifying. That ♥♥♥♥♥ was on a roll. Never seen something like that in this game. Super aggressive.
But yeah, easy to identify as a demon. I had my doubts thoe, I thought it was a Wraith, too, because I saw it going through doors and it did not leave footprints on the salt. Weird.

if it was easy to identify then why did your sanity get so low for it to hunt?

Hunts only last 55 seconds on professional and there is about a 25 second grace period between hunts if i'm not mistaken so it cannot hunt within 5 or 10 seconds, I'll just assume that's an extreme exaggeration on your part.

Also I don't recommend relying on the Wraith's bio for a guess. It still acts about as generic as the other ghosts despite the things the game's journal says about it.

Never seen one hunt on full sanity yet but I know its possible. Usually someone has to say its name still or swear on the open mic as ghost hear's all. Either way, once that "pissed off" threshold is crossed, it will attack. So its a good sign its a demon but other ghosts can hunt early if the right conditions met as well. Mares hunt early too and can sneak up on you with their hunts as often times pubbies run around in the dark without turning lights on or accidentally blow a fuse. Letting the Mare have its increased hunt chances.

There also seems to be some kind of random start value for the ghost on what level of "pissed off" it starts at to initiate hunts etc. Sometimes you walk in the door and haven't said a word and non-Oni type ghosts will be super high on activity and will hunt earlier than expected. Hard to tell how this works without looking at the game code.

Well, you'd have to force test this. I mean how often are you actually at full sanity and the hunt is possible? Amateur and intermediate difficulties are already out here. In a controlled test you still don't know the demon type from the start. So you'd have to verify the demon type, then use sanity pills to get back to full, then stand idle in a lit room for an extended period of time (so no sanity loss occurs).



The code behind it definitely allows a hunt at full sanity for a demon.

Some time ago I had an accident with a Banshee, that picked upstairs front bathroom inside pro edgefield house. Helen Smith decided to follow me to the basement and grab me by the balls there.
That was the second time I/we entered the house to place some more equipment. So our sanity was at around 80%. Not sure if someone cheated/trolled since it's my all-time only one semi-death, as my teammates still could see me walk and hear me, I could see my body, but I couldn't pick up/interact with anything.

But normally I expect a hunt at around +/- 50% team sanity without crucifixes being placed inside room.

That is consistent with a Banshee's behavior.

Ghosts that have a specific ability can roll to use it, a Banshee has a target and if it rolls to use its ability it will try to move close to its target for about 20 secs. If the target enters its line of sight in that 20 secs it will start a hunt.

Hunting Phase cannot exceed 55 seconds on Professional. That was your first lie.

You ALWAYS have a grace period of smth like 20-30 seconds before the Ghost can start another hunt. That was your second lie.

And demons act the same way they act on amateur or intermediate. The only difference is you dont get any grace period in the beginning. There is no timer running.

I think the OP just got caught up in the heat of the hunt and so it seemed much quicker than it was. It's happened to me. But to their original point, don't rely over much on frequent hunts as being a Demon every time. Other ghosts can hunt quite often under certain circumstances and almost appear to be Demons. Hanging your hat on that might bite ya in the butt.

We had one on amature which was hunting constantly. As soon as anyone went near it.

Difference is on pro they can attack straight away, as soon as you walk in to the building if you aren't careful.

my last 2 demons on professional solo didnt bother hunting throughout the whole ordeal even tho i was already down to 50% sanity.
