Ghosts that pass through doors
I originally believed that only phantoms and wraiths could pass through closed doors, but after playing this game for nearly 40 hours, I've experienced revenants and spirits passing through closed doors as well.

It never seems to be consistent on which of these can and can't pass through doors during a hunt. Some cases are glitches, I take it?

All ghosts can pass through a door while hunting without needing to open it, only wraith can SEE through that door though. In the other cases, they just happen to walk in while patrolling or watched a player hide there so they are checking.

Ahh, suppose that makes sense. Every time I've asked long time players, they've given me different answers.

Well, more than that can apply as well so I imagine there is some variations. Some have special movement abilities that bend the rules a bit.

-Wraith and banshee are exceptionally notorious for ripping a player from their hiding spot.
-Revenant's claim to fame is usually hard punishing the players who taunt and loop the ghost or the ones who panic and freeze instead of hiding (or the unlucky who get him in a big room without hiding spots).
-Spirits are like the baseline of ghosts, so nothing incredibly special about them, but they are the most average, which means they tend to do a little of everything. They also seem to like to wander a lot, including during their hunt patrols, whereas a territorial ghost like the jinn tends to stick near/defend their room.

Just to name a few

you have to be careful who you trust. a lot of people aren't interested in actual game mechanics and instead spread false rumors and superstition.
