This game needs anti-cheat immediately.

People are using speed hacks, money hacks, level hacks, even I found a way to download those hacks in 10 minutes for free. Srsly, now the game feels unrewarding (when I see those insane lvl people).
Also people are breaking lobbies with sometimes up to 60 people, up to 20 ghosts. It's not supposed to be like this.

We need anti-cheat, cmon.

Is someone forcing you to download those cheats? No. Is someone forcing you to join modded lobbies? No.

Yes the corrupted saves and such is an issue, but just don't join those lobbies.

Aside from the lobbies with more than 4 players being obvious, is there a way to tell which lobbies have been modded? Do they all get the rainbow color or is that something they do deliberately?

Just out of curiosity, I have only played with friends. I would hate to join a lobby like that by accident.

I don't think there is a way to know, that's why I don't join random lobbies. I think modding would bring a longer lifespan to this game, but of course the cons need to be dealt with first, the corruptions and abuse.

I've played a couple games where a normal looking server was hosted by a cheater. My friend had his save corrupted while the cheater decided to mess with the game when a map loaded. It's not all fun and games. There needs to be a indicator that a server has been modded or a player is doing something outside the bounds of the game.

Back up your save is all I can say.
File path is as follows

C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Kinetic Games\Phasmophobia

You want to back up the saveData file if you can't access AppData it is a hidden folder that can be accessed by doing the following.

Open the C: drive.

Click View on the menu bar.

Click the Options icon.

Select the View tab.

Under Files and Folders > Hidden files and folders, select the option to Show hidden files, folders and drives.

Click OK.

You should now see AppData folder in your user folder.

I’m level 420ish and my friend just passed level 700. Neither of us have cheated anything.

You don’t have to join cheaters lobbies, most of them are obvious.

I agree with you though, cheating isn’t okay.

At least it’s a PVE game and not PVP.

Corrupting saves via other individuals shouldn't be possible.

Only way I can see it happening is when you are loading into a map but crash, but even then you shouldn't lose your progress because of the save state the game takes into consideration before you load into the game.

But if you are paranoid about it, the option to backup your saves is always there.

Although, losing progress isn't bad in the game as you can still very well succeed with the default gear and a thermometer.

Also don't be quick to assume every high lvl is a hacker. My buddy is over lvl 300 but we only play professional and you get a lvl and a half each mission on average. People keep booting instantly now to the point we're confined to private (I myself am over lvl100 too i just don't play as much as he does).
