Stuttering
Anybody else has stuttering problems? I have it no matter what graphic options I choose, from 1080p to 4K and everything on low or high. It can't be my PC config.

I should also point out that the minimum and recommended requirements for this game are absolutely absurd. I figured it was a bad port the moment I saw those but I've been waiting ten years so I had to buy it.

This is also by QLOC, the Polish developer responsible for the recent remaster of Dark Souls. That wasn't an amazing port, but it wasn't as poor as this appears to be. Not nearly. That port added a TAA option that I was kind of hoping for here. In fact it's really weird that there's FXAA, MSAA 4X and no other options. Was MSAA 4X a holdover from the console release? This was based on the PS3 port, but it's notable that the 360 version probably used MSAA 4X through dedicated hardware on that console. I wonder what that says about this port?

The games runs smooth for me except in pre-rendered scenes which do appear like they want to be running in 30fps but aren't. I suspect that if you ran a frame limiter below 30fps all of the stuttering would disappear. Wonder if the PS4/XB1 versions have the same issue and somehow the Switch version runs the smoothest due to the 30fps cap out of combat? Or maybe somebody more competent ported the console versions.

Looks-wise, the game seems fine to me with 4k DSR but definitely feels lacking without it. My main issue is actually the audio which is all over the place in terms of volume. The PS3 version definitely didn't have that issue.

Yes I have the micro stutter too... With V-sync on or off. It's not horrible to the point I can't play. But I would like to see it fixed. And I have a great PC. Probably like many people here actually.

I will second FireWarrior Beseria runs super well.

its been found that the switch and xbox one version arent locked to 30fps outside of battle, with the game being locked to 60fps outside of battle on a xbox one x from what i've heard
no idea if the same is true for xbox one/s

the switch jumping between 40-60 outside of battle

I was having the same issues. I restarted the game, set it to fullscreen and maxed all settings out with v-sync on. its running smoothly now;
Hope it helps!

Full Screen with Vsync here. 1080p Maximum Settings. Game is butter smooth.

I can't play in full screen I record the game. But thanks for the info. I play on Borderless. In full screen it only records black. I know other recorders might be able to work. Hopefully it can be patched. But I'm going to keep playing.

I'd suggest engaging my framerate limiter. It's very simple to do, in fact just follow the directions from my Monster Hunter World mod because that's currently the latest version.

Refer to Download and Install; change the install directory for Tales of Vesperia.

Ctrl + Shift + Backspace

Ive tried your fix buts its not working still have those ugly stutter but it let you cap FPS which is nice but yeah these stutter are still a thing lets hope for a patch adressing this issue.
Have you tried setting the "Sleepless Window Thread" option under the Framerate limiter tab? Depending on your CPU, that may help a bit.

There's not really a broken framerate limiter here the same way there was in past titles. I can look at the game's assembly code more thoroughly when I have more time but the fix I had for Tales of Symphonia, Zestiria and Berseria no longer applies to this engine (update?).

If you try Special K, these settings (SwapChain) may help you with windowed mode performance:

You'll have to restart the game after turning on flip model.

it stutters on Titain x pascal 2016 as well.

It's interesting, using Special K's framelimiter, the stutters seem to condense into one larger hitch rather than a patch of roughness, even though the game itself seems to only run at 60fps.

You might try knocking the framerate down by 1 or 2 (i.e. set the limit to 59 or 58).

It's been a while since I tuned stuff for a non-GSync display but I think even on a fixed-refresh monitor SK's limiter will produce good results at sub-60 FPS limits. It's not critical to run the game at precisely 60 or 30 FPS in this version of Tales.

Just tested this on PS4 and there's none of the stuttering that's on the PC version. Thanks Bamco.
